Position Summary

The Communications Specialist supports the planning, development, and execution of internal and external communications for Aspire Health. This role serves as a key content developer and writer, helping translate complex healthcare, Medicare Advantage, community health, and organizational priorities into clear, accurate, and engaging communications for a variety of audiences.

This position works closely with sales, marketing, clinical, operational, and compliance teams to support compliant, brand-aligned communications across print, digital, email, web, social, and campaign materials. The Communications Specialist helps strengthen Aspire Health's voice, improve audience engagement, and ensure communications are thoughtful, accessible, and aligned with organizational goals. As part of a small, cross-functional marketing and communications team, this role may also support related marketing, outreach, digital, event, and administrative communications needs as assigned.

Core Responsibilities

  • Copywriting and Content Development
    • Write, edit, and proofread a variety of materials, including member communications, provider communications, newsletters, brochures, email campaigns, direct mail, intranet content, website copy, social media content, presentations, and campaign materials.
    • Translate complex healthcare, Medicare Advantage, community health, and organizational information into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
    • Adapt messaging by audience, channel, and purpose while maintaining a consistent voice, tone, and brand style.
    • Support development of messaging frameworks, talking points, headlines, calls to action, and campaign copy.
    • Review content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, readability, brand alignment, and compliance considerations.
  • Content Strategy and Storytelling
    • Support the development of audience-specific messaging, content themes, and communications plans that align with organizational priorities.
    • Develop clear and compelling stories, articles, newsletter content, campaign copy, and other communications that highlight programs, services, community impact, member experience, and organizational initiatives.
    • Gather information from subject matter experts, internal teams, and approved sources to create accurate and meaningful content.
    • Maintain a pipeline of story ideas, content opportunities, and reusable messaging that can support multiple communications channels.
    • Ensure storytelling and content development are accurate, respectful, brand-aligned, and appropriate for the intended audience
  • Member and Provider Communications
    • Develop and coordinate compliant member and provider communications (letters, notices, educational content, outreach materials).
    • Collaborate with Compliance to ensure all materials meet CMS and state requirements.
    • Maintain a communications calendar for regulatory and engagement initiatives.
  • Internal Communications
    • Support communication plans for organizational updates, campaigns, and culture initiatives.
  • Digital and Media Support
    • Update and maintain content for the health plan's website and social media channels.
    • Support press and media relations efforts, including drafting press releases and media responses.
    • Coordinate social media scheduling and engagement tracking.
  • Brand and Compliance Stewardship
    • Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines and tone of voice standards.
    • Support consistency in messaging across marketing, sales, and outreach materials.
  • Measurement and Reporting
    • Track and report engagement metrics across communication channels.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance message effectiveness and audience engagement.
  • Marketing Support
    • Support coordination, organization, and distribution of marketing collateral, branded materials, promotional items, and outreach materials as needed.
    • Support the creation, production, and routing of flyers, brochures, presentations, digital materials, and campaign assets.
    • Assist with writing, scheduling, and tracking social media content in coordination with approved communications plans.
    • Support setup, coordination, promotion, and facilitation of webinars, presentations, community events, and public-facing outreach activities.
    • Provide on-site or virtual support for public events, community outreach, member engagement activities, and other marketing or communications initiatives as needed.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing Project Manager to support timelines, vendor coordination, deliverable tracking, and timely completion of materials.
    • Support digital and print campaigns, including coordination of content, approvals, production, and distribution.
    • Perform other related marketing and communications duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required, with demonstrated ability to write and edit content in both languages
  • 4+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or public affairs (healthcare or insurance preferred).
  • Experience supporting complex marketing plans and events.
  • Strong professional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels.
  • Experience developing newsletters, campaign copy, articles, email communications, web content, or other audience-facing communications.
  • Ability to gather information from stakeholders and subject matter experts and turn it into clear, polished communications.
  • Experience working in healthcare, health insurance, nonprofit, community health, or regulated communications preferred.
  • Experience with content management and project management tools (e.g., SharePoint, WordPress, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Asana).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Basic understanding of design/layout principles and experience working with approved templates or collaborating with designers preferred.
  • Experience with digital ads platforms preferred (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.).

Pay rate: $32.00 per hour
