Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is professional work in providing nutrition education services to clients in the Indian River County WIC program and/or other health care setting or in a community outreach service delivery program. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Access to confidential records and computer access will be based on the need to know when involved in specific patient's care, billing activities, ordering prescribed medications or supplies, investigating communicable disease reports, established quality improvement activities, i. e., peer review, records review audits, and investigating complaints.

Certifies clients for participation in the WIC program in accordance with policies of the state WIC program and regulations stated in HRSM 150-24. Accurately identifies nutritional risk criteria; evaluates nutrition questionnaires, reviews special formula prescriptions ensuring they contain a valid medical diagnosis; assigns appropriate food package. Documents all information accurately in the medical record and WIC system. Evaluates immunization records of infant and child participants, makes medical referrals as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Abilityto perform comprehensive nutrition assessments

+ Skillin providing personalized nutrition counseling

+ Knowledgeof nutrition science, dietary guidelines, and the latest health trends to deliver accurate and relevant nutrition education to clients.

+ Abilityto create and conduct engaging nutrition education programs, workshops, and presentations that simplify complex nutritional information for clients

+ Proficiencyin using nutrition software, electronic health records (EHR), and other digital tools to document client progress, maintain accurate records, and generate necessary reports.

+ Abilityto manage time effectively by coordinating client schedules, conducting assessments, and ensuring timely follow-up, documentation, and report submissions.

+ Skillin collaborating with other healthcare professionals, wellness organizations, and community entities to integrate nutrition into a broader wellness plan and work on joint projects.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

+ Florida Department of Health is required to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent may include working in special needs shelter or performing other emergency duties including but not limited to, response to or threats involving any disaster or threat or disaster man-made or natural.

+ Have a bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition/Dietetics including at least 30 hours of Nutrition Related Coursework. (Verification will be required the date of the interview.)

+ Willing to work in an office setting as part of a team

+ Have experience interviewing, obtaining confidential and demographic information

Preferred:

+ At least 6 months of Nutrition Counseling experience.

+ Nutrition counseling skills and ability
