The Communications Specialist position is based in the West Trenton, New Jersey office. The hours for the position are Monday through Friday, day shift, 38.75 hours per week. This is a hybrid role that will be able to work up to two-days remote per week once training is completed. Compensation for this position is likely to fall in the $65,800-$76,500 range. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and credentials. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Write original and accurate content, at times under tight deadlines.
Expected output could include web content, employee communications, emails, news releases, PowerPoints, letters, newsletters, brochures, flyers, and scripts
Take responsibility and full accountability for the ideation and execution of work
Manage multiple projects from concept through production, while ensuring copy is factually correct and consistent with NJM's guidelines, style, and overall tone
Collaborate with business units for appropriate input and editing
Track projects to ensure they are completed within the correct timeframe
Attend status meetings prepared to discuss the status of each open project
Assist with content creation and participate in exercises as a member of the crisis communications team
Assist with drafting and posting articles to NJM's Intranet site
Keep current on industry, Company-specific, societal, and cultural news and trends to be prepared to write about relevant issues or make recommendations for compelling messaging
Use educational opportunities to improve insurance product knowledge, communications strategy skills and other areas pertinent to the position
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
One to three years of corporate communications experience, including drafting customer-facing emails, news releases, speeches, and website content. We may be willing to consider less experience if the chosen candidate had a bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
Must be a self-starter with organization and time management skills
Must be able to demonstrate strong writing skills (professional writing samples will be requested)
Must be detail oriented and be able to see a project through from conception to completion
Must be able to work independently and be highly collaborative and open to multiple perspectives
Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the financial services industry
Experience with Adobe Workfront a plus
