General Summary:

In this hybrid role based at NJM Insurance Group's corporate office in West Trenton (Ewing Township), NJ, the Virtual Distribution Representatives primarily meet virtually with agency distribution partners in pursuit of additional business in the small, mid and large size markets. The right candidate would possess key phone and administrative skills, professional presence, and credibility in the insurance industry. These relationships will specifically be utilized to support and grow our distribution partner's and NJM's exclusive distribution model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential functions of this job are listed below in order of priority. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential duties. Regular and predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of the job.

  • Using an analytical approach with the objective to rehabilitate underperforming partnerships… approach, segment and grow new business commercial lines in the territory. Ultimately, through the review process segment agents based on the strength of these current relationships as well as their potential.
  • Pursue, upsell, cross-sell, recapture opportunities with agencies/brokers.
  • Coordinate New Business Proposal Meetings on key accounts to agencies; present NJM optional plans.
  • Key account pre-renewal discussion with agencies.
  • Lead Agency annual planning process. Implement and monitor throughout the year.
  • Review underwriting appetite and services with assigned agencies.
  • Attend POS (Point of Sale) when necessary, with agency partners.
  • Assist with contracting new agencies when needed.
  • Assist with onboarding and terminating agencies as required.
  • Maintain agency profiles. Attend corporate functions potentially including Corporate Giving, Chamber of Commerce and Marketing events.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills & abilities, experience, minimum & desired education, certification and/or license requirements.

  • Ability to research and assess account underperformance and recommend corrective plan of action.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' commercial insurance company experience, specifically in either Commercial Lines Marketing, Sales, Production Underwriting, Distribution and/or Relationship Management
  • Sales oriented with experience and successful track record selling standard commercial lines products.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues.
  • Full knowledge of all commercial line's standard insurance products and usages.
  • Ability to manage complexity, multiple clients, products, rating territories, tasks, and requests.
  • Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned client and prospects.
  • Knowledge of insurance underwriting procedures, markets and reference to markets
  • Ability to segment, prioritize and execute upon corrective actions while seeking opportunities to improve agent engagement and production.
  • Results oriented with the ability to meet strategic goals as required for the territory.
  • Excellent analytical, problem resolution, negotiating and project management skills.
  • Professional, committed, and self-motivated with the ability to focus on daily tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Must maintain and remain current with their producers' state licenses and continuing education credits. If you do not currently have an active license, you will be expected to obtain one within a defined period.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (High School Diploma or GED required)
  • Specific knowledge of the commercial lines in the marketplace as it relates to new business and account opportunities.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.

Pay Range: $86,020-$108,498

Eligible full-time employees receive a competitive Total Rewards package, including but not limited to a 401(k) with employer match up to 8% and additional service-based contributions, Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, Life and Disability coverage, generous PTO, Paid Sick Leave, and paid parental leave in addition to state-mandated leave. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
