Job Description

Execute the on-time dispatching of railroad personnel, railroad transportation, and other requests of the Network Operations Center. Create a positive and inclusive environment while professionally handling inquiries or problems generated through phone, e-mail, verbal communication, or chat.

 

Job Duties

  • Work in a professional environment and handle multiple challenging internal customer interactions via phone, email and internal instant messaging
  • Coordinate work with other railroad personnel
  • Generate reports and maintain records and files as necessary.
  • Handle requests for information from other departments on crew management services related questions
  • Managing multiple priorities for railroad personnel and look for solutions to daily issues and to work as a member of a team
  • Manage personnel vacant jobs, and handle the job advertisement process
  • Adhere to labor agreement and computer assisted calling procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Must be able to understand and convey oral information either in person or by telephone, and to phrase questions in a manner that leads to appropriate responses
  • Strong multi-tasking skills are a necessity
  • Must have strong computer skills.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be able to type at 35 words per minute at 85% accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Must be able to accurately record information on forms without clerical errors and prepare short concise document
  • Must be able to pass job training

 

Work Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office environment. Work station is located in Atlanta, GA. (This is not a remote assignment)
  • Employees wear headsets when calling and answering phone calls
  • Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including overtime, on-call hours, variable shifts, weekends and/or holidays. We are a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week, and 365 day/year department.
  • To the extent required by federal law and/or collective bargaining agreement, membership to the respective labor union is required. Monthly dues are the responsibility of the employee
  • The pay rate, benefits, and paid-time-off for this position is set by the union agreement and cannot be individually negotiated
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).

 

Pay Rate

A full-earning crew dispatcher can expect to earn approximately $95,927.00/year. Note that new crew dispatcher will take 4 years of employment to become a full earning crew dispatcher.
