Primary Purpose:
The Senior Manager Quality & Continuous Improvement position is responsible for establishing a robust framework for quality auditing and driving continuous improvement initiatives across all categories of spend within the Supplier Performance Management Program. This role will enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure alignment with industry standards for safety, reliability, and sustainability (AAR, FRA, ISO). Acting as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the VP of Enterprise Resources, this position will lead a data-driven team focused on process optimization, supplier performance, and quality excellence.
Principle Duties:
- Promote operational excellence and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the enterprise.
- Lead initiatives to standardize tools and equipment organization-wide, leveraging Six Sigma analysis to optimize material kitting, improve productivity, and enhance tool quality.
- Collaborate with category and business leaders to identify improvement opportunities across Mechanical, Engineering, Transportation, and MRO, including Procurement-to-Pay processes.
- Drive enterprise-wide process enhancements to eliminate inefficiencies, streamline workflows, and optimize workforce planning.
- Develop and implement a Supplier Quality Management System (SQMS) to ensure consistent quality standards.
- Drive supplier performance improvement through scorecards, audits, and corrective action plans, with an initial focus on mechanical categories and OEMs.
- Conduct root cause analysis for supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Align sourcing strategies with industry-specific safety, reliability, and sustainability objectives.
- Collect and analyze data to support strategic initiatives and measure performance outcomes.
- Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to lead Kaizen events, 5S workshops, and other improvement activities internally and externally.
- Support category strategies to identify Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) improvements through material, equipment, and service enhancements.
- Develop a roadmap for Supplier Performance Management implementation, including a comprehensive supplier audit program.
- Ensure compliance with AAR, FRA, ISO, and other relevant standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in quality management, continuous improvement, and supplier performance roles.
- Experience in rail or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Technical Expertise:
- Fact-based analytics and statistical analysis
- Lean principles and Six Sigma certification
- Leading Kaizen events, 5S, and process improvement workshops
- Organizational design and change management
- Education:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering
- Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- Continuous Improvement and Project Management certifications highly desirable
- Skills:
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholders
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and create structured processes
- Highly organized, action-oriented, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and sound judgment
