Description
The Division of Allergy and Immunology, Barbara and Donald Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is seeking an A&I Board Certified Pediatrician or Internist Clinical Physician Scientist specializing in primary and secondary immunodeficiency disease. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in clinical and basic science related to immunodeficiency disease, at the assistant/associate professor level and will join the academic A&I faculty at the Barbara and Donald Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Preferred candidates will have an MD or MD/PhD degree with a track record in conducting clinical care of patients with immunodeficiency disease, clinical immunology research trials, and/or translational research.
The Division of Allergy and Immunology includes a Jeffrey Modell Research Center that provides a very large population of children and adults with primary and secondary immunodeficiency disease, cutting edge clinical trials and translational research. The A&I Division serves a wide variety of children and adults with genetically defined primary immunodeficiency diseases and patients with acquired immune defects caused by immunomodulatory medications used to treat autoimmune and malignant diseases. The Division houses a Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic Center with a fully staffed basic science research laboratory in The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research within the Northwell Health System. There are 9 Internal Medicine and Pediatrics A&I faculty members and 4 fellows (2 first year and 2 second year), in a nationally recognized, ACGME accredited, A&I fellowship program. There are 3 PAs, a Doctor of Pharmacy, and 6 nurses in the Division. There are 5 Centers of Excellence in the A&I Division, including, the Primary Immunodeficiency Disease Center, Food Allergy Center, the Drug Allergy and Desensitization Center, the Pediatric Asthma Center, and the Biologics, Immune Modulation Center. All are linked to the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York, The Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and the North Shore University Hospital within the Northwell Health System.
