This position provides research, support and guidance to other engineers, developers, technical staff and business owners to ensure that NRECA adequately safeguards its data and information systems based upon a detailed technical understanding across multiple security domains. We are looking for someone who will thrive in an environment where they will collaborate closely with IT and business stakeholders to design and implement foundational frameworks for Information Security—building robust infrastructures, processes, methods, and standards that scale with innovation. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex cyber security projects and advise technology teams across a wide spectrum of needs, including cloud security, endpoint protection, and cutting-edge orchestration and automation solutions. This is a HYBRID position located in Arlington, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement IAM systems with a focus on scalability, security, and long-term sustainability.
• Define, validate, and continuously manage user access roles across the enterprise.
• Design and deliver reporting solutions to detect provisioning inconsistencies and drive remediation through operationalized processes.
• Maintain and enhance existing IAM systems and workflows.
• Develop and enforce role-based access control (RBAC), privilege management protocols, and access policies.
• Integrate IAM platforms with key technologies including cloud environments and enterprise applications.
• Streamline and automate IAM procedures, including user provisioning, deprovisioning, and lifecycle workflows.
• Perform security assessments and deploy enhancements to strengthen IAM infrastructure.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Formal Education Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Systems and Technology.
• Deep expertise in IAM methodologies (RBAC, ABAC, Zero Trust, passwordless authentication, federated identity, SSO) and protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC), with 8+ years of defined benefit compliance experience.
• Proficient in configuring and maintaining authentication frameworks (MFA, SSO, adaptive authentication) and building collaborative channels to promote IAM knowledge sharing across IT teams.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM)
• Experience with Workforce IAM, Single Sign-On (SSO), and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solutions.
• Proven success collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate IAM solutions into broader IT and security infrastructures
• Experience in partnering with software engineering teams to embed IAM controls within applications seamlessly.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
• Formal Education Preferred: Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Systems and Technology.
Essential Physical Requirements
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
