Summary of Position
NRECA's Education, Training & Events team designs, delivers, and facilitates high-impact learning experiences and events—both online and in person--that empower cooperative leaders and staff to guide their organizations and communities into the future. The portfolio includes certification programs, a robust education curriculum of 100+ courses, leadership development programs, a trade show, thought leadership events and multi-day conferences. This is a Hybrid position located in Arlington, VA.
This high visibility position manages a team of two in the day-to-day operations of relationship building, consultative selling and distribution of all NRECA education programs for electric cooperative directors and employees. It coordinates teams of internal and external subject matter experts to create high-impact learning experiences that enhance cooperative leadership and performance. The position oversees the full program lifecycle, from design, development and evaluation, ensuring the highest quality education experience. Budget management and strategic oversight are key responsibilities, with guidance from the Director of Governance Education. The role plays a critical part in equipping electric cooperative leaders and staff with the skills needed to drive their organizations and communities forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with internal and external subject matter experts and other stakeholders to determine the needs, scope and content of courses and education programs.
- Serves as day-to-day program manager for assigned education events and courses, both live and virtual.
- Collaborates with the marketing department in design, development and execution of multi-channel marketing plans to promote education programs.
- Works collaboratively with the meetings team to ensure a superior onsite attendee experience for all education programs.
- Provides front-line member service by handling member inquiries.
- Adheres to the education program's purpose, analyzes the audience, and ensures consistency with value propositions, goals and learning objectives.
- Conducts review cycles, research, and identifies subject-matter experts and potential instructors to deliver timely, relevant, and high impact educational experiences.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or utility industry related degree a plus.
- 7 or more year's experience in education/training, competency-based programs communications, business, marketing, program/project management or utility industry a plus.
- 2 or more years of experience managing direct reports.
- Strong critical thinking skills; ability to innovate; advanced verbal and written communication skills across all media (email, MS Teams, text, video).
- Ability to explore and apply cutting edge technologies (e.g., online learning strategies, artificial intelligence).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in association management and the ability to work effectively with a membership are essential.
- Knowledge of conference and meeting program management including budgets, speaker acquisition, marketing and communication, A-V and meeting logistics.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
