Summary of Position
We are searching for a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will plan and manage all aspects of medium to large technology systems and business projects from the project initiation and planning through the execution and successful implementation. Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in project management and business analysis disciplines. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues to improve products or services. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, plan and manage (with general oversight) all aspects of projects from initiation to successful implementation on time, in budget and to scope (or assists on implementing more complex projects). Projects typically involve system technology changes and IT coordination involving multiple systems, business process and procedure changes of multiple business areas and change management.
Oversee the work performed by the project team to define business requirements; perform impact, risk and stakeholder analysis; develop levels of effort; "as is" and "to be" business process analysis; data migration and validation; testing and validation including test strategy, environment set-up, user acceptance testing, parallel testing and integrated end-to-end testing; change management; process and procedure updates; training and communications; cut-over and production validation.
Develop and implement project management plans including management of scope, quality, risk, communications, stakeholders, sponsor and a detailed project schedule.
Primary lead in the planning, management and communication of progress tracking and corrective actions, project status, change control process, go-to-green plans, project documentation, retrospectives and other project activities.
Identify risks and problems proactively and recommend and implement solutions.
Communicate, both verbally and in writing, with leadership, stakeholders, team members, and/or vendors in a clear and accurate manner.
Organize and manage time, multi-task, operate under pressure and prioritize work and projects for self and project team using effective organization and project management skills.
Lead people, develop working relationships, and foster collaborative skills and consensus building while operating in a fast-moving environment.
Facilitate meetings effectively to achieve its desired purpose, build consensus and gain agreement/commitment on a plan of action, and effectively hold self and others accountable in delivering results.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline; or equivalent relevant work experience, e.g., each year of work experience may be substituted for each year of education required. Preferred education focuses on technology and business subjects.
Five years of project management and business analysis related experience (preferably in an insurance, financial services, employee benefits administration or related field) OR five years of Business Analysis experience with hands-on Project Management experience.
Five years of experience with various project management methodologies such as Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Lifecycle (PLC) (or similar lifecycle), experience with Waterfall, Lean Six Sigma or Agile (e.g., SCRUM, Kanban, SAFe) in a business and technology environment.
Certifications: One or more certifications including Project Management Institute (PMI) – Project Management Professional (PMP), Axelos – PRINCE2 Certification (Projects IN Controlled Environments), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification required.
Intermediate experience with the following: Microsoft Project (or similar project scheduling tool), Microsoft Visio (or similar diagraming tool), JIRA (or similar tracking tool), Microsoft Teams (or similar application sharing tool) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK or similar BA knowledge base).
Conduct business research, elicit requirements, configure systems, oversee testing and conduct analysis for multiple medium to large size and complexity projects with competing deadlines and priorities
Identify and define issues, establish facts and draw valid conclusions that apply to the business and technology environment.
Work with protected data from a technology and business perspective, preferably in the insurance, financial services or employee benefits administration industry.
Certifications: Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) preferred.
Essential Physical Requirements:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
