What you'll do:

The individual will work with Olympus Controls outside Sales Engineers and interact directly with customers and their projects. The position requires self-motivation, problem solving, and desire to finish quickly but also please our clients. This job requires good oral and written communication skills, basic Windows Office applications proficiency, and a professional and courteous personality. The preferred candidate will have an aptitude toward programming, and electrical hands-on capability. The job will also require mechanical aptitude as a basic but also needs to have experience or the ability to quickly learn motion control, robotics systems, and sensor/safety/vision hardware. Additional details about what you will be doing includes:

 

  • Provide technical support to customers while involving the Sales Engineers to assist in managing customer support needs
  • Provide technical training to Sales Engineers and customers as requested
  • Assist Sales Engineers with pre-sales support needs (robot demos, vision evaluations, product demonstrations, etc.)
  • Provide customized customer training for most products
  • Design and build demo equipment
  • 45-50 hours/week is the standard, working beyond this is generally required to fulfill duties as expected

Requirements:

  • An understanding of Motion Control, Robotics, and Machine Vision is preferred 
  • Understanding of basic electronics and mechanics
  • Mechanical/Electrical/Physics /Mechatronics Engineering degree or equivalent 4-year degree in a technical field
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic and industrial communications protocols
  • Relevant industry experience preferred
