Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Certified Field Supervisor, incumbent is responsible to assist in the operation and maintenance of the Oneida Nations community water/wastewater systems to ensure safe drinking water and environmentally safe wastewater treatment. Continuation of this position is contingent upon funding allocations.

Responsibilities:

* Learn to operate, maintain and monitor an advanced Wastewater Treatment Processes, equipment and facilities, this includes Identify and take corrective actions to operating problems in the treatment plant. Ensure compliance with all statutory, and regulatory procedures by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as the Oneida Nation; continuous improvement to the treatment process to ensure a safe return of wastewater to the environment, carry out oral and printed work order requests and apply corrective measures in a timely fashion utilizing computerized maintenance system etc…
* Learn to maintain and operate mechanical equipment such as sewer cleaner, sludge pump, riding lawnmower, generators, light tower, hydrostatic pump, straw blower, wastewater sampler, etc. Monitor and inventory equipment on a regular basis. Maintain and operate pump houses/booster station to record pump run times daily, system pressure, tower level and ensure the proper operation of chemical pumps.
* Assist in maintaining and operating lift stations to record pump run times daily, inspect lift pumps, check valves, electrical panels, valve pit and wet well.
* Assist Septic system Technician to pump holding tanks and septic systems as needed/required.
* Assist in operating/maintaining water towers.
* Learn to install, calibrate, and repair water meters as needed/required.
* Assist in flushing fire hydrants semiannually.
* Learn how to exercise water valves annually.
* Assist in locating and marking the nation's public water/wastewater infrastructure for all digger hotlines notifications
* Learn how to locate water leaks using leak detection equipment.
* Assist in cleaning and inspecting manholes on a routine basis.
* Assist in repairing water/wastewater laterals and main breaks.
* Learn how to install and repair fire hydrants, gate valves, and curb stops as needed/required. Landscape after installation of curb stops, fire hydrants and gate valves to ensure the timely access to fire hydrants of emergency vehicles.
* Assist in performing all work in conformance with Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
* Assist in plowing snow for utility access and/or assist the Department of Public Works in snow removal as needed.
* Learn how to perform meter reading, water testing and sampling in the absence of the Lab Technician.
* Assist in cutting grass at all water/wastewater facilities as needed/required.
* Learn how to operate the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system that monitors all water/wastewater facilities as needed/required.
* Assist in working closely with the Indian Health Service, EPA, Oneida Housing Authority, Safety Department and Plumbing on water/wastewater problems and concerns as needed/required.

Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.
