About this PositionThe Communications Coordinator supports OSU-OKC's strategic marketing and communications efforts through compelling storytelling, content creation and enrollment communications. This position plays a key role in communicating OSU-OKC's mission and commitment to students, supporting recruitment and retention efforts and enhancing the institution's reputation through high-quality content across multiple platforms. The coordinator collaborates closely with academic divisions, student affairs, enrollment management and other campus partners to tell authentic stories that showcase OSU-OKC's impact on students and Oklahoma's high-tech workforce development.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, English or a related field.
Three years of professional communications, journalism, public relations or marketing experience with demonstrated writing and storytelling abilities.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences
- Proficiency in AP style and adaptable writing style for various platforms and purposes
- Strong storytelling abilities with experience developing human-interest stories, profiles and feature content
- Understanding of enrollment marketing and student recruitment communications
- Experience with content management systems and digital publishing tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with students, faculty, staff and community partners
- Self-directed with creative problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail and brand consistency
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with various stakeholder groups
- Exhibit strong attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with different priorities and tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate creativity, integrity and passion for growing the institution and system.
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

Master's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, English or a related field.
- Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Experience in higher education marketing or communications
- Knowledge of enrollment marketing best practices and student recruitment cycles
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with technical and career-focused education programs
1. Content Creation & Storytelling
- Write compelling stories that showcase OSU-OKC students, faculty, programs and community impact
- Develop feature stories, news articles, profiles and human-interest content for website, publications and digital channels
- Conduct interviews with students, alumni, faculty and staff to gather authentic stories
- Create content that highlights OSU-OKC's mission, values and commitment to student success
- Ensure all content aligns with OSU-OKC and OSU brand standards and voice
2. Enrollment & Recruitment Communications
- Support enrollment marketing efforts through strategic storytelling about academic programs, student outcomes and campus life
- Write and direct recruitment materials, including print and email content, program descriptions, student testimonials, advertising, website content and promotional materials
- Collaborate with system Enrollment Communications and Admissions teams to develop content that resonates with prospective students and families
- Create content highlighting OSU Applied Workforce Programs and career pathways in high-tech fields
- Support campaigns targeting specific student populations and program areas
- Develop messaging that communicates OSU-OKC's value proposition and student-centered approach
3. Communications Support & Project Coordination
- Assist the Director with implementation of marketing, communications and media relations strategies
- Coordinate content calendars and manage workflow for various communications projects
- Support internal communications efforts for faculty, staff and current students
- Maintain content accuracy and timeliness across platforms
- Track and report on content performance and engagement metrics
- Provide communications support for campus events and initiatives
4. Collaboration & Relationship Building
- Build and maintain relationships with academic divisions, student services and other campus departments
- Work collaboratively with admissions counselors, faculty and staff to identify story opportunities
- Partner with Marketing and Communications team on integrated campaigns
- Represent OSU-OKC professionally in campus and community settings
- Participate in campus committees and working groups as assigned
Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development sessions each year.

Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include occasional evenings and weekends for campus events
- Primarily office-based work with opportunities for campus engagement and community outreach
- Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening and computer usage
- Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment
- May require lifting and transporting equipment up to 25 lbs. (If an object weighs more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift)
