Position: Full-Time Security Supervisor

Hours: Mon - Fri (0800-1600)

Payrate: $21.42/hr

Job Description:

  • Provides direct supervision and scheduling of all security guards
  • Responsible for the signing of all reports, records, logs, and other information required by the Manager, Corporate Security, or his/her designate.
  • Communicate with the Manager, Corporate Security, or his/her designate daily, and be accessible 24 hours a day for emergency purposes.
  • Responsible for the day to day administration of security systems such as tracking of service calls, system equipment, and training staff on the access control system or system in place.
  • Maintains and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Coordinates additional coverage requests & special event arrangements
  • Conducts periodical reviews of on-site Post orders and coordinates changes as necessary
  • Coordinates & supervises the training of all new Security staff & ensures that all training areas are covered effectively & in detail with all newly assigned staff
  • Coordinates & facilitates recurring training with all assigned staff
  • Maintains an incident log, and ensure all incidents are recorded in this log by guards on duty
  • Deals with incidents Manager, Corporate Security, with exception of instances requiring investigation and possible criminal activity relating to the City
  • Acts as a liaison and responds to requests from the City community
  • Reports irre
  • Provides first aid when required
  • Serves the City community through excellent customer service skills

 Job Duties

  • Ability to work alone or in a team
  • Conducts proactive patrols, and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns
  • Ability to write detailed incident reports for all emergency and day to day activities
  • Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons
  • Ability to de-escalate a crisis situation, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel
  • Logging in/out of Key, Radio & pager audits
  • Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
  • Report any unsafe working conditions in any/all departments
  • Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person

Job Requirements

  • Education Min Requirement Grade 12; Security or Police Foundations training preferred
  • Min. 1 year Security Guard experience in a municipal government or corporate environment would be an asset
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and the relevant Acts, Codes and legislation, including the Criminal Code of Canada and the Trespass to Property Act
  • Computer Literacy is essential
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Customer service oriented attitude
  • Valid Ontario Security License
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • Physical Demands: excessive walking, standing, exposed to all weather conditions
  • Excellent verbal and written English communications skills
  • Successfully completed Supervisor Training
  • Authorized to legally work in Canada

High School Diploma/GED
