Communications Specialist 

Are you a passionate, proactive and dedicated individual that is interested in contributing to a growth-oriented organization? We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Specialist to join our team! 

As part of our Marketing & Communications team, you will work collaboratively with our branches across North America and be responsible for ensuring all communications content is delivered to the highest standards within our organization, including newsletters, intranet updates, blogs, memos, charity initiatives, marketing material, press releases/media relations, and proposals.

You will be an ambassador of our brand, contribute to its ongoing management, and proactively work with internal stakeholders to compose impressive communications. 

Your enthusiasm and positive attitude will help you gain the trust of colleagues and external parties alike.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Manage internal communications output. 
  • Prepare a strategic communication plan for the company. 
  • Ensure communication strategy is consistent and reflects the organization's strategic vision. 
  • Manage and maintain corporate communication channels (along with other team members). 
  • Drafting content for internal and external purposes. 
  • Playing a leadership role company-wide corporate giving. 
  • Alongside the Vice President Marketing & Communications, develop and manage media relations - building media engagement opportunities  
  • Along with team members, create and manage a strategic content calendar. 

You are a great fit if you have: 

  • Phenomenal communication, copywriting, and editing skills. 
  • Excellent speaking skills to give presentations or lead meetings with confidence. 
  • Incredible interpersonal skills that create a positive work environment and gain the trust of your colleagues. 
  • Creative flair for writing and love pitching and running with new ideas. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Experience in internal communication and project management is considered an asset. 
  • Experience with brand management 

Experience: 

  • 5 years' proven experience in communications or marketing. 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, public relations, English or similar, relevant field. 
  • Master communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to work equally well with members of the executive team and general staff alike, including vendors, business partners, team members and co-workers. 
  • Results driven with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment; while delivering on multiple, concurrent initiatives. 

** This is an in-office position at our Burnaby Office.

Education Requirements (All)

Certificate, Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Communications or Marketing
