Job Skills / Requirements Site Description: The day-to-day work activities of a Security Guard working at IGPC include control entry and access to the plant and maintain accurate logs of those entering and leaving the plant Position Details: Position: Part Time Security Guard Site: ALCO Energy formally IGPC Site Address: 89 Progress Ave, Aylmer, ON N5H 2R9 Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement – calculating after 88 hours bi-weekly Hours: Saturday 1200-1800hrs, Sunday 0600-1800hrs + Statutory Holidays 0600-1800hrs Payrate: $18.75/hr Posting Date: April 21, 2025 Internal Closing Date: April 28, 2025 External Closing Date: May 19, 2025
Key responsibilities: The day-to-day work activities of a Security Guard working at IGPC include, but are not limited to the following duties:
- Control entry and access to the plant and maintain accurate logs of those entering and leaving the plant
- Weigh Scale Operation
- Shipping/Receiving duties of inbound/outbound deliveries
- Report safety non-compliances and all incidents to specified IGPC representative
- Aid in incident mitigation and investigations when required
- Aid in emergency responses and first aid measures when required
- Aid in IGPC Health and Safety programs/procedures when required
- Maintain a helpful and professional affiliation with IGPC employees, carriers, contractors and visitors
- Prevent, help manage, observe, detect and report:
- Thefts, break-ins, vandalism
- Accidents, fire, leaks
- Articles of value found
- Damage found to building
- Hazardous conditions
- Unauthorized parking on site
- Any other circumstances and conditions not in line with good security practices
- Follow additional practices as set out by IGPC when necessary
- Be courteous and cooperative with a high quality of customer service
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures
- Able to maintain a professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances and people under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations
- Write clear, concise and legible reports
- Valid Ontario Security Guard license (required)
- Valid First Aid & CPR certificate
- Experience in a Truck Gate/Warehouse environment
- Physically capable of cutting truck bolt seals
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (required)
- Adaptable to In-house Software
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
- Experience in a Truck Gate/Warehouse environment
