Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all of the activities undertaken by their platoon. Ensures that security operations occur consistent with policy, Standing Orders and rule of law.
- Supervises, coaches and develops assigned staff.
- Develops performance management plans and IDP (Individual Development Plans) for their direct reports
- Provides leadership to first responders and in the absence of the senior security team, provides counsel to senior management during the initial stages of a security/safety-related crisis or potentially significant incidents.
- Assesses the criticality and impact of incidents, works closely with other stakeholders and takes action to mitigate business impact.
- May lead or assist with investigation of crimes, and employee/tenant misconduct.
- Serves as the principle point of contact with public safety agencies attending in response to emergency situations.
- Identifies security awareness deficiencies and makes recommendations as appropriate.
- Serves as the primary initial decision maker in emergency situations and incident response.
- Effectively communicating job expectations to staff; planning, training, evaluating and appraising staff performance; initiating, coordinating and enforcing policies and procedures; coaching, counseling and disciplining staff; developing personal growth opportunities for staff
Job Requirements
- A Certificate in Law & Security or Police Foundation is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years security experience and/or a minimum 1 years of supervisory experience is preferred
- Experience in dealing with outside emergency response agencies.
- Previous law enforcement or high profile security experience within a corporate organization, property management or public agency is preferred.
- Ability to influence and lead under ordinary and crisis situations.
- Excellent motivational skills.
- Previous training/experience as a “train the trainer” (first aid, CPR, Defensive Tactics, tactical communications, bomb search techniques, etc.) preferred
- Basic knowledge of integrated security systems, access control, CCTV, LAN and network infrastructures, and associated software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with key members of the property management team and tenant contacts.
- Required to work various rotating shifts and be available for work in a 24x7x365 environment.
- Could be exposed to hazardous situations and conditions when responding to emergencies or incidents

- Must have a Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Must have a Valid WSIB-approved First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
- Minimum Have a minimum of One Year of Experience in Security
- Must be proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware:
The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
