Description

Oversees advanced LAN/WAN infrastructure management with responsibility for core switching, load balancing, network access control, DNS and DHCP administration, disaster recovery configurations, and documentation. Provides senior-level expertise to ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise networks, while guiding improvements through planning, implementation, and evaluation of network enhancements.

Responsibilities:
Network Maintenance & Operations
•    Define and maintain advanced network specifications by collaborating with users to analyze workflow, access, information, and security requirements. 
•    Administer and configure routers, interfaces, routing protocols, and core switching for disaster recovery environments.
•    Manage DNS and DHCP setup, configuration, and administration.
•    Configure and support load balancing technologies, including F5 LTM and global load balancing solutions.
•    Implement and manage network access control (NAC) technologies.
•    Ensure optimal performance by monitoring and tuning availability, utilization, throughput, and latency.
•    Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network problems; escalate issues to vendors as needed.
•    Implement and maintain security protocols, monitoring tools, and evaluation methods to safeguard systems and data.
•    Collaborate with vendors to test, deploy, and enhance network systems.
•    Provide technical training, references, and support to users as required.
•    Manage projects and service requests through established ticketing systems and workflows.

Fiscal & Strategic Responsibility
•    Support financial objectives by monitoring expenses and contributing to network budget planning.
•    Accept ownership of new initiatives and seek opportunities to enhance organizational value.

Documentation & Training
•    Maintain detailed documentation of tasks, configurations, and issue resolutions.
•    Support ongoing documentation of network architecture and integration with other systems.
•    Deliver or assist with training efforts to promote knowledge sharing across the IT team.

Professional Development
•    Maintain current expertise by participating in training, professional organizations, and continued study of emerging technologies.
•    Stay current with Cisco datacenter and campus networking platforms, as well as broader industry best practices.

General & Miscellaneous
•    Maintain confidentiality and protect organizational information. 
•    Attend meetings and participate in committees as requested. 
•    Ensure reliable attendance, including required after-hours work. 
•    Perform other duties and special assignments as needed. Ensure regular, reliable attendance and fulfill after-hours duties as required.



Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree required (in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred)
  • Cisco CCNA: Routing & Switching strongly preferred
  • Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience in network administration and support

Knowledge of: 
•    LAN/WAN technologies including TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN, and BGP. 
•    Network performance tuning and troubleshooting. Cisco IOS and NXOS platforms. 
•    Cisco Datacenter technologies (Nexus 7K/9K, vPC, FEX). 
•    Cisco Routed Campus platforms (Catalyst 9500/9300). 
•    Layer 3 Access configuration and maintenance. 
•    F5 LTM configuration, including Virtual Servers, Nodes, and Pools. 
•    Global load balancing solutions. 
•    Network Access Control (NAC) technologies. 
•    DHCP and DNS configuration, setup, and maintenance. 
•    Emerging networking technologies and trends.

•    Interpret and apply relevant laws, regulations, and policies. 
•    Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.

•    Perform extended work at a computer terminal.
