Summary
Summary: Cares for the elderly, convalescent, or disabled patients and children in private homes and assisted living facilities by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adheres to Simply The Best Standards of Performance. Explains procedures and treatments and plan of care to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension. Administers prescribed medications, treatments and manages medications in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisory or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patients. Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, and protocol. Bathes patients, attends to patient comfort and personal appearance. Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities. Maintains a readiness of chart documentation for review by State and Federal Surveyors. Documents care as required by Nursing Department and unit policy. Ability to teach patient and/or caregiver(s) R/T medications, diagnosis', treatment and other needed subjects based on patient/caregiver need.
Education/Experience: Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 2-3 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses: Licensed through the Kansas Board of Nursing. BLS certification. Supervisory Responsibilities: Ability to supervise LPN's and HHA's per policy.
