Schedule Details: M-F 7:30am -4:00pm. Adjust shift as necessary to ensure project work is completed on schedule.
Job Summary
The Equipment Planner utilizes expert knowledge in evaluating, locating, and recommending medical equipment, products and associated infrastructure requirements for all construction projects (including new medical facilities, major renovations, and expansions of existing medical facilities).
In partnership with Supply Chain Management, Biomedical professionals and medical personnel, this role evaluates medical equipment needs, participates in the development and maintenance of enterprise-wide standards, and coordinates and collaborates in the process for medical equipment procurement. Also coordinates with Supply Chain Management on standards for supplies and other non-medical equipment products.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate user group equipment planning meetings to develop a final equipment list of new/existing that aligns with project scope and schedule
- Develop and update equipment budgets in a timely manner to support the budget development of the overall project
- Identify, evaluate, locate and recommend based on existing organization and project standards equipment to be purchased for new healthcare facilities, renovations and expansion of existing healthcare facilities
- Coordinate with the design team for FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) placement on design documents
- Plan equipment on a room by room level for each department within the scope and limits of the project
- Review project drawings and coordinate equipment requirements on the plans. Ensure good communication between the project team, architects, and contractors
- Identify equipment and design conflicts as early as possible during the design process to avoid costly construction delays
- Manage equipment information submittals of required vendors for incorporation into project drawings
- Responsible for obtaining and coordinating technical data for equipment and submitting to the design professional for the project
- Participate in project meetings as required for all phases of the project (Concept, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Construction Administration) to support procurement & equipment management
- Manage and execute the timely procurement of the equipment based on the project schedule
- Identify equipment that requires early procurement due to global, domestic, or local supply chain constraints
Proficient knowledge in CAD/Revit/Bluebeam is preferred
Working knowledge of Atania or comparable planning software is preferred
Basic knowledge of hospital/clinic department functions is required; including knowledge of clinical workflow and equipment placement in relation to architectural spaces
What You Will Do:This role requires significant interfacing with hospital leaders, medical professionals, program managers, architectural and engineering teams, general contractors, and coordinate with the Supply Chain procurement manager to work with equipment vendors. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of medical equipment, the equipment planning process, equipment placement drawings and the equipment procurement process.
Key responsibilities of this role include
Responsible for budgeting, specifying, facilitating selection, coordination planning, and timely procurement for equipment for the scope and limits of all assigned projects
A minimum of 4 years of experience in equipment planning in the healthcare environment as well as hands on knowledge of healthcare related medical equipment technology
