Since 1870 we've been making malted barley for brewers and distillers all over the world from our home maltings in Norfolk, England. We currently have an opportunity for a Hygiene Operator at our Crisp Malt, Ryburgh location. 

The Hygiene Operator will work closely with the operations team ensuring that safety and operating standards are maintained. The Hygiene Operator will be required to work across all areas of the site as required as well as work with colleagues and alone.

Accountabilities

  • Health & Safety of yourself and colleagues is always maintained by following Safe Systems of Work, training and wearing of correct PPE as required. Reporting of Accidents, Near Misses and Hazards.
  • Work closely with the engineering department to report faults and the timely repair to minimize production lost time by supporting the operation of the companies CMMS.
  • Site Hygiene ensure the site and its facilities across all areas are kept in good order.
  • Support all areas of site production to ensure the safe and efficient production of our products. As and when required undertake production duties to support teams.
  • Training to be undertaken as required to fulfil the role as identified by the business.

Health & Safety

  • Comply with company policies and any training received at all times.
  • All Accidents, Near Misses & Hazards must be reported at the time of the incident.
  • Behaviors to be inline with company expectations at all times.
  • PPE standards to be adhered to at all times, additional PPE to be worn as identified for task specific hazards.
  • Report all Accidents, Near Misses and Hazards
  • Chemical storage to be kept locked and in good order at all times, all chemical drums must be clearly labelled with lids on.
  • Hygiene equipment such as hoses, lances, brooms and shovels to be stored correctly so as not creating hazards in the workplace.
  • Use of FLT as required to fulfil needs of role, ad-hoc duties of loading/unloading vehicles may also be required.
  • Use of Tractor and road sweeper to maintain external areas to required levels of hygiene, also using tanker bowser to carry out drain cleaning duties.

Engineering

  • Report defects effectively utilizing the CMMS.
  • Support engineering activities as required to ensure timely manner of repair to minimise production downtime.
  • Carry out any routine inspections of plant or equipment as requested.
  • Identify and propose ideas for improvements to plant or equipment.

Hygiene

  • Internal hygiene audit scores to be greater than 85%
  • Monthly drain cleaning to be completed across site.
  • Site to be audit & visit ready at all times.
  • Work with pest control contractors to target areas of concern with hygiene activities.
  • Ensure that consumables are managed effectively to minimise wastage.

Training

  • Complete any training identified as necessary to fulfil your duties.
  • Ensure that your own training is up to date and that any additional training is requested.
  • Actively take part in generating a personal development plan with line manager.

Teamwork

  • Work across all areas of the production departments as and when required.
  • Support all areas as necessary to meet the daily/weekly production requirements and to support colleagues.

Please note that at present this role is for Day Shift Monday- Friday 7am-4pm. This shift is currently being reviewed so days and hours may change. More information regarding this will be given at the interview stage of the process.
