Richardson operates port terminals from coast to coast across Canada and exports Canadian-grown grains and oilseeds to end-use markets in over 50 countries around the globe.
We currently have opportunities for General Labourers at our Richardson Port Terminal located in North Vancouver, BC. This is an opportunity to work at one of the most successful grain handling facilities in the world, which exports canola and cereal grains to countries along the Pacific Rim. As a General Labourer you will start in an entry level position and receive training into many of our Production positions in a heavy industrial environment.
Responsibilities:
Heavy clean up duties such as shoveling grain spills, sweeping floors, brushing down equipment and structures, vacuuming grain residues
Load / unload products to/from rail cars and trucks
Participates in training of other Rail Yard duties i.e. rail car switching and locomotive operations
Provide assistance and relief to other Production team members
Operate equipment within defined parameters
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or G.E.D.
Must be capable of lifting and stacking, 50lbs, without assistance
Ability to work safely with limited supervision in a heavy industrial environment
Mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
Basic math, reasoning, and problem solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
A desire to be cross trained and learn about our business
Shows a learner attitude, personal initiative and diligence
Strong work ethic and a proven safety record
Ability to work in conditions such as confined spaces, heights, dust, and temperature extremes
Ability to work shift work on a rotational schedule including days, evenings, and graveyard
Asset
First Aid and Fork lift certification
Completion of safety courses such as confined space, WHMIS, fall area
Industrial work, Rail Yard / Locomotive, or grain handling experience
