The Finance Department of the University encompasses the Controller's Office and the Office of Budget,Treasury,and Research Administration. These offices are dedicated to ensuring the integrity of data submitted,recorded,and reported and to providing the highest level of financial services in support of the University's mission in Biomedical Research.

Responsibilities
The Staff Accountant in the Controller's Office, is responsible for supporting the Finance Office in a broad range of activities. Primary responsibilities include:
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations for the multiple University bank accounts. Responsibilities include clearing all items in a timely manner and submitting them to the Assistant Controller for review.
- Deposits checks for tenant lease security account and processes tenant withdrawal requests. Records tenant lease deposits and withdrawals in Oracle system.
- Account analysis and journal entry preparation of RU Press financial activity. This also includes preparing the year-end inventory for subscriptions and book orders.
- Assists with reconciling all Account Receivable clearing accounts ensuring proper charges are made to customers while ensuring appropriate revenue recognition for all Departments.
- Assists with analyzing Accounts Receivable Aging reports and perform subsequent collection efforts for overdue accounts.
- Analyze cash receipts for proper entry and coding to customer accounts.
- Liaison between Finance and Human Resources over Faculty Club membership/billing matters. Monitors annual Faculty Club dues and related billed receivables.
- Assists in the quarterly equipment tagging and posting into Oracle Fixed Assets. Per the direction of the Assistant Controller, lab visits will be conducted and new equipment purchases will be given an inventory tag.
- Monitors the Unapplied Receipt Register and follows up with appropriate staff to make certain all payments made are reflected in the correct customer account.
- Prepares various account reconciliations reviewed by Associate Controller.
- Reviews various utility expenses and prepares related summary analysis. Prepare monthly energy accrual to provide to Associate Vice President of Finance.
- On a quarterly basis, assists in the review of University bank accounts for abandoned property issues and sends out the standard notification letters. This includes placing stop payments and reissuing checks if required.
- Special projects and analysis as deemed appropriate; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of two years of accounting or related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Must have strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and be hands-on, self-starting, disciplined, and detailed-oriented with the ability to work independently. Must have a strong understanding of proper accounting treatment for accounts receivable transactions and other activities. Experience with written and verbal internal and external customer communications, as well as experience with journal entries and general ledger reconciliation, required. Must have a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
