Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: General Counsel & Compliance Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Roswell Park is seeking an Assistant or Associate General Counsel to work in the General Counsel and Compliance Department, reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel.The Assistant/Associate General Counsel is responsible for reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, which may include: (i) procurement contracts (equipment and product purchase and service agreements); (ii) information technology (IT) contracts (software licensing and hosting/SaaS agreements); (iii) technology transfer (licensing agreements, collaborative and partnership agreements, and commercialization and distribution agreements); (iv) research contracts (sponsored and collaborative research agreements, data and material transfer agreements); (v) lease and construction contracts; (vi) academic affiliation agreements; (vii) professional service and staffing agreements.
The Assistant/Associate General Counsel assists the General Counsel and the Chief Legal Officer with other legal matters as needed to support the clinical and research missions of Roswell Park, which matters may include providing regulatory guidance, contract interpretation, and other legal support to various clinical, research, and administrative departments.
The Assistant/Associate General Counsel interfaces with management of various clinical, research and administrative departments, and provides timely legal guidance to facilitate Roswell Park objectives and support operations, while minimizing potential legal risk and exposure.
Must maintain knowledge of New York Laws applicable to public entities and hospitals, as well as general health and privacy laws to support legal practice.
Starting annual salary for the Assistant is $115,283 commensurate with experience.
Starting annual salary for the Associate is $145,685 commensurate with experience. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
Assistant General Counsel:
License Requirement
J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admitted to practice law by the State of New York Bar.
Education and Experience
One (1) year of full-time private practice or in-house legal experience.
Associate General Counsel:
License Requirement
J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admitted to practice law by the State of New York Bar.
Education and Experience
Four (4) years of full-time responsible private practice or in-house legal experience, including general corporate and/or business related matters.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have at least three (3) years (for Associate General Counsel) or one (1) year (for Assistant General Counsel) of experience: (i) focusing on relevant areas of health law; and/or (ii) focusing on review and negotiation of one (1) or more the contract types referenced above. Title (Assistant/Associate) will be determined based on the selected candidate's level of experience.
This position qualifies for a hybrid remote work arrangement.
