Title: Nurse II - Therapeutic Apheresis

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Therapeutic Apheresis Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Nurse II in Therapeutic Apheresis performs nursing procedures within the RPCI Therapeutic Apheresis unit along with cross training within the Donor Center (Pheresis). This position also performs Therapeutic Apheresis procedures in both in-patient and out-patient settings, routine procedures include: Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Collection, Donor Lymphocyte Collection, Leukocyte Reduction, Plasma Exchanges and Photopheresis utilizing multiple apheresis technology devices. This role executes Therapeutic Phlebotomy procedures, routine direct patient management procedures including IV administration, drug administration, Blood Product Transfusion, and laboratory test sample procurement all while executing collection procedures maintains donor and product safety while adhering to all compliance mandated by State, Federal and accrediting agencies. This role includes a routine on-call rotation inclusive of weekends.
Donor Center: Performs Blood Donor screening and blood product collection procedures in the RPCI Donor center utilizing venipuncture and apheresis techniques. Routine responsibilities include donor eligibility screening, assessment, venous access, procedure initiation, donor monitoring and procedure documentation. Other routine duties include equipment set up/breakdown, blood product transport preparation, and donor management during collection procedures. Positions Primary Function:
• Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture for Whole Blood and Platelet pheresis procedures for the purpose of providing blood products for RPCI patients.
• Monitor donors throughout Whole Blood and or Platelet pheresis procedure(s).
• Maintain donor and product safety while adhering to all compliance mandated by State, Federal and accrediting agencies. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
Education and Experience
1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or
2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or
3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or
4. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time) as a Nurse I at Roswell Park.

NOTES:
1. Incumbents will serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse II.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in apheresis procedures or dialysis.

The preferred candidate will have previous critical care experience.

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a blood collection facility and/or phlebotomy experience.
