The Director Finance will embrace the role of establishing a first-class finance organization, develop and organize finance activities and financial governance for the company, and use data to drive decisions. The Director Finance will act as a trusted business advisor and partner for the Senior and C-Suite leadership of the Company. The individual must be self-motivated, have strong analytical skills to interpret data and identify key financial trends, and be a strategic thinker. In addition, the individual must be able to work collaboratively with other operations and SG&A departments to align financial strategies with overall business objectives. This role is an onsite role basedout of Livonia, MI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the financial planning and analysis function, including evolving the existing financial reporting processes.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead and enhance the annual five-year and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Maintain and continuously improve key financial systems (PeopleSoft and OneStream).
- Mentor and lead a team of eight Finance professionals in analyzing financial results and identifying opportunities to improve margin and drive cost efficiencies.
- Analyze data and partner with senior management in evaluating strategic initiatives and approaches to improving the company's bottom line.
- Present financial information to all levels of the organization.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership on critical business decisions.
- Identify areas of cost reduction and implementing cost-saving measures.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
- U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance
- Minimum 12 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including at least seven years of experience managing a finance team, including financial planning and analysis responsibilities.
- Ability to think critically and develop sound financial strategies aligned with Company goals.
- Adaptability to work in both manual and automated financial systems.
- Participatory management skills, with proven ability to hire, coach, and lead personnel.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Well-organized with demonstrated success in driving innovation.
- Ability to collaborate and cultivate successful relationships across different organizations.
- Can easily transition between detail and higher-level analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to and drive change, handle multiple priorities, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with Peoplesoft is preferred.
- Experience in automotive and/or manufacturing industry preferred.
