Job Summary
SAIC is looking to hire a Principal Cloud Engineer to support our government customer. This resource will be responsible for managing cloud environments, possessing extensive skills and knowledge in cloud service provider selection, implementation techniques, application data migration techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
In addition to the duties required of a Cloud Engineer, a Cloud Engineer SME will provides technical, managerial, and administrative direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems within cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications, Skills, Experience or Certifications:
12+ years experience in information technology WITH 8+ years of focused, HANDS-ON experience deploying/configuring workloads within EITHER AWS or Azure – preferred experience is DevOps focused
Hands-on experience installing, configuring, upgrading FinOps tools like Kion in AWS environments.
Experience in setting up Kion organizational units and account schemes, projects, linking Kion with Cloud Service Providers such as AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Google Cloud Provider (GCP)
Hands-on expertise writing CloudFormation Infrastructure as Code templates for infrastructure deployment.
Hands-on experience with AWS Billing Conductor and Cost Explorer
Proven track record of identifying AWS resource waste.
Experience authoring Account, Subscriptions etc., Kion compliance scores and financial guardrails.
Experience with Kion for tracking cost allocation for resources such as container, ALB, RDS
Experience managing and scaling applications inside AWS ECS clusters.
Proficient in configuring Application Load Balancers for high availability.
Experience scaling, patching, and optimizing RDS instances.
Experience participation in daily scrums, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with DevOps and Cloud teams
Good understanding of FedRAMP services and best practices for their consumption
Experience managing AWS Public and GovCloud across regions
Demonstrated understanding of cloud engineering methods, applications, and best practices across cloud service providers
Knowledge of Agile Project Management methodologies
Experience documenting requirements, user stories, and use cases
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment
Professional Architect Certification within EITHER AWS or Azure
Job Role Specific Requirements:
Producing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or Configuration as Code (CaC), delivering solutions with a code first approach with sufficient comments and structure
Collaborating with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
Diagnosing and resolving complex performance, security, and/or technical challenges
Supporting all tiers of applications deployed in the cloud, configuring network, cloud native services, infrastructure, and privileges for development teams
Identifying opportunities for optimizing cloud consumption by the agency and providing strategic direction for addressing those opportunities
Creating/updating cloud environment configurations within Kion to establish/support application workloads, including
Azure Focused: Configuration of Subscriptions, Resource Groups, VNets, Subnets, load balancers, App Services, Azure Batch, Virtual Machines, resource tagging, billing, policy implementation, and security controls
AWS Focused: Configuration of AWS Accounts, IAM Users and Roles, VPCs, subnets, load balancers, Network routes, Transit Gateway, Control Tower, Systems Manager, Config Manager, stack sets, WAF, CloudFront, and Route53
