SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to support the Weapons Systems Development Division in developing and maintaining unique solutions in ordnance related systems for the Asymmetric Initiation Systems Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, IN.

Collaborating with other professionals to solve challenging problems and participate in the development, prototyping, testing, and fielding of sound solutions for the Nation's security and supporting our frontline warfighters. The selected individual will operate in the capacity of service responsible for assisting the government customer team in contributing to various projects and tasks. All while having the opportunity to build and maintain strategic relationships with various customers, sponsors, and related industry partners.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Support customers and sponsoring organizations in conceptual design, documentation, prototyping, fabrication/assembly, integration, testing, fielding and related support of initiation system electrical and electronic subsystems. Continuously ensuring deliverable components and systems are accurately prepared and documented for customers' mission success. 

 

The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Conceptualizing ideas, drafting proposals, developing designs, and participating in formal review presentations.
  • Should be adept at drafting hardware designs, firmware, software flowcharts, and creating bills of materials.
  • Additionally, they should be experienced in modeling and simulating electronic designs and power systems using MATLAB® or similar tools. 
  • Developing circuit schematics, completing PCB layouts, and maturing embedded systems to a production-ready level. 
  • Running or participating in validation and environmental tests, troubleshooting software and communication using network diagnostic tools, and evaluating system integrity with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers. 
  • Creating detailed design information, comprehensive documentation and presentations, and maturing technical data packages (TDP) to support acquisition and fielding.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical or Computer Engineering and zero (0) years or more of related experience.

  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with an unrelenting desire to learn and improve. 

  • Capable of assessing project issues and helping to develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Ability to convey technical information effectively to a variety of audiences in oral or written formats.

  • Self-Starter capable of contributing both individually and with others in a collaborative team. With a demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, C#, and Java

  • Knowledge in Firmware, architecture, implementation and interface protocol development

  • Must be proficient with computers and have experience with Microsoft suite of software tools (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).

  • Ability to meet physical health, personal responsibility, and safety requirements to obtain and maintain an explosive certification.

  • Interim secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.  SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizenship

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in rapidly developed and safety critical systems

  • Familiarity with timing components (I.e. crystal oscillators, real-time clocks, programmable timers)

  • Experience with Development and Simulation Software (I.e. SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Altium Designer, OrCAD, or KiCad)
