SAIC is looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support in F3016 contract at Crane, Indiana

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The employee shall assist in preparing all Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) 
  • Design. Construct and test mechanical prototypes and test beds.
  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems from concept through fielding.
  • Create detailed assembly and part drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation.
  • Utilize CAD software (preferably Creo 7.0, SolidWorks and/or Solid Edge 2023) to produce 2D and 3D designs; may also use computer-assisted engineering tools for analysis.
  • Collaborate with Document Control to manage design documentation, including Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • Conduct product testing and validation to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and improving existing product designs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or systems engineering.
  • Solid foundation in fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
  • Expert knowledge of theories and principles of Mechanical Engineering as applied to C2 systems. 
  • MIL-STD 810 (latest revision) knowledge is required to support effective implementation and testing of system designs. 
  • Must be skillful at mechanical bracket and component design, production, and drawing development. 
  • The candite should be comfortable working in a variety of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software solutions and be able to create and interpret technical drawings and schematics that meet program standards and provide technical reviews of drawings created by other engineers. 
  • Familiarity with mil-standards, dimensioning and tolerancing, and design producibility is expected. 
  • Strong capability to provide technical support for the installation, modification, and maintenance of fielded tactical communication systems. 
  • A plus would include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, provide user training, and develop technical documentation. Experience with field service and deployment support is highly desirable, not necessary.
  • Ability to develop detailed specifications for selecting and procuring components and equipment.
  • This includes creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), conducting cost analysis, evaluating vendor proposals, and managing obsolescence. Experience with supply chain management is a plus.
  • Ability to develop and execute comprehensive test plans for tactical communication systems. This includes defining test cases, configuring test environments, conducting tests, analyzing results, and documenting findings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, and manufacturing. Must be able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion. A proactive and results-oriented approach is essential.
  • Work in team environment.
  • Must possess good oral and written communications skills and be familiar with PC Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Position requires good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Candidate must be able to work in a busy environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance; not needed to start.
