SAIC is looking for a Material Coordinator in Bedford, IN to support the U.S. Navy.

This position is responsible for managing inventory levels, overseeing the flow of materials, coordinating with suppliers and ensuring that the delivery of materials meets production schedules. 

Job duties include:

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure material availability, considering current stock, lead times, and production schedules.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any supply issues.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the procurement department to help identify new suppliers, negotiate pricing, and improve material quality.
  • Collaborate with production and planning teams to forecast future material needs and prepare procurement schedules.
  • Oversee the receipt of all incoming materials, ensuring proper documentation, inspection, and storage.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining inventory management systems and strategies.
  • Generate and maintain accurate records and reports regarding inventory levels, material usage, and procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Engage in the materials lifecycle management from procurement to disposal.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Education with at least 5 years of experience in material coordination, inventory control, or a similar role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficient in using inventory management software and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
