This role plays a critical part in engineering support to Marine Corps ground vehicle programs. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with DoD programs, engineering design tools, manufacturing processes (including additive manufacturing), and will lead small teams to ensure deliverables, reporting, and quality standards are met.

This opportunity is particularly suited for an individual who is currently performing in a technical/mechanical support role and is ready to transition into a formal engineering leadership position.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design and integration of kits for mobility platform programs.
  • Create and review engineering drawings and 3D models using industry-standard CAD software.
  • Apply ASNE (American Society of Naval Engineers) and MIL-STD design standards to all engineering outputs.
  • Support and interface with manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability and sustainment compatibility.
  • Coordinate with program managers and task leads to track deliverables and provide timely status reporting.
  • Participate in prototype builds, testing, and documentation efforts.
  • Guide and mentor technicians and junior team members.
  • Ensure configuration management and documentation control processes are followed.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvements across design and production workflows.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (required).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a defense, Marine Corps, or mobility platform environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical roles or small team supervision.
  • Working knowledge of ASNE and MIL-STD standards.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing methods and materials.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous support experience with Marine Corps ground vehicles or similar military systems.
  • Familiarity with integration, fielding, and sustainment life cycles.
  • Experience managing contract deliverables or technical data packages (TDPs).
  • Familiarity with Windchill or other PLM systems.

Why Join SAIC:

SAIC is committed to growing our internal talent. This position is ideal for someone who has proven their capability in a technical support role and is now ready to grow into a leadership engineering position while continuing to contribute to mission-critical Marine Corps programs.
