Team SAIC is currently seeking a skilled Cable Technician responsible for the installation and maintenance of cabling and system hardware installs. This position is based in Arlington, VA, supporting the DISA customer.
Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM core hours with occasional after-hours onsite work to support a NIPR and SIPR environment.
Responsibilities to include:
- Install, terminate, label, and test network cabling, including fiber optic, CAT5, and CAT6 cables.
- Maintain cable management practices to ensure neat, organized, and secure cable runs.
- Document cabling infrastructure changes, updates, and network maps.
- Support server/network hardware installation as needed
- Assist in the design, creation, and implementation of standards and specifications for cable installations.
- Install closet hardware, such as connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, racks, backboards, and patch panels.
- Use Fluke Network Testers for cable testing
- Experience with drop downs through walls and ceilings
- Troubleshooting failed ports/SFP
Qualifications
Required:
- This position requires an active DOD Top Secret clearance.
- Possess DoD 8570.01-M/DoD 8140 Certification IAW established mandate prior to start of work – IAT Level II required (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP); IAT Level III is desirable (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH). Applicants not meeting this requirement will not be considered.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
- Relevant Computing Environment Certificate
- Must be familiar with TIA/EIA and BICSI rules, regulations, and standards in reference to cable infrastructure.
- Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively to personnel of various expertise levels.
Desired:
- BICSI certification
- Experience using ServiceNow ticketing system
