The Procurement/Supplier Quality Assurance (PQA) Specialist is responsible for ensuring that suppliers, contractors, and internal teams meet all applicable quality standards for aerospace hardware, systems, and services. The role provides oversight, guidance, and evaluation of supplier quality programs, supports procurement and engineering teams, and drives continuous improvement across the supply chain. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop, review, and refine quality assurance requirements for Program/Project Management Plans and technical documentation. 
• Serve as the Quality Assurance representative on supplier evaluation and selection teams for aerospace hardware and related services. 
• Provide assessments and recommendations regarding supplier performance and compliance with contractual Quality Management System requirements. 
• Review project statements of work and purchase requests to ensure appropriate quality assurance provisions are included. 
• Evaluate supplier contracts to determine inspection requirements, establish applicable quality criteria, and monitor performance of supplier inspections. 
• Review and approve supplier quality plans, inspection procedures, test procedures, and special process documentation. 
• Support procurement, supply chain, and engineering teams as a subject matter expert on quality assurance matters. 
• Collaborate with internal supply chain quality personnel and external partners on quality reporting, data accuracy, and issue resolution. 
• Conduct supplier surveillance activities, including oversight of critical processes, documentation review, and verification of compliance. 
• Lead or participate in quality audits and assessments of supplier facilities, quality programs, and operational processes. 
• Identify deficiencies in supplier systems or contract deliverables, and work directly with supplier quality and engineering personnel to develop corrective actions. 
• Track, validate, and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions. 
• Perform continuous evaluations of supplier quality plans, procedures, documentation, and performance metrics. 
• Maintain working knowledge of industry standards and practices related to aerospace procurement and quality assurance. 

Qualifications

Required Education: 

  • Bachelors and six (6) years or more of related experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience

 

Required Experience: 

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, quality management, or a related field. 
• Experience in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, or highly regulated industries preferred. 
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and related quality management standards. 
• Understanding of supplier quality practices across the entire product life cycle, including design, manufacturing, testing, and operations. 
• Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, statistical process control, risk analysis, and corrective action systems. 
• Working knowledge of contract requirements, supplier performance evaluation, and procurement processes within a regulated or safety critical environment.
