SAIC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support and assist Site Leadership of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Information Operations (UAVIO) program Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC-Pac), Naval Base Point Loma, by supporting RF payload integration, edge computing, configuration management and technical writing.

Core engineering duties:

  • RF integrated circuits/systems & Payload Integration: Hands-on integration of RF systems, software-defined radios (SDRs), antennas, and computing nodes onto unmanned systems (air and surface).
  • Hardware architecture design and development of electronic/RF assemblies 
  • SWaP Analysis & Power: Assess and manage Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) constraints, power distribution, and data routing for small form-factor tactical payloads.
  • Lab & Bench Testing: Utilize standard test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, multi-meter and oscilloscopes) to validate system performance, troubleshoot EMI/EMC issues, and conduct bench testing.
  • Must be proficient with SolidWorks Electrical and Altium Designer

CM & Technical Writing Duties:

  • Serve as Configuration Manager for the UAVIO Project who will identify, organize, and control software and hardware configuration changes. During the execution of these requirements, through access to documentation such as mechanical and/or electrical drawings, assembly drawings, manuals, etc., the Configuration Manager may be exposed to other contractors' proprietary information.
  • Configuration Management (CM): Establish and maintain configuration control of hardware baselines, software versions, and engineering change proposals (ECPs) for our payloads.
  • Technical Documentation: Draft, review, and finalize high-level technical documentation, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), system block diagrams, wiring schematics, and formal test plans/reports.
  • Process Improvement: Help standardize the documentation pipeline to offload the administrative burden from the government engineering team.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a highly related technical field or five (5) years or more experience.
  • Hands-on experience with RF systems or payload integration.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex systems engineering concepts into clear, structured documentation.
  • Candidate must be US Citizen.
  • Must currently hold an active Secret Clearance.

 

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
