SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer to support the United States Air Force's acquisition of the next-generation Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the largest and most critical government acquisition programs, providing a blend of systems and software engineering expertise while applying modern development and oversight practices.
In this role, you will support the Sentinel Software Branch and government program office engineers, providing expertise in software acquisition, systems integration, and engineering best practices. You will gain experience across all phases of software development and systems engineering while helping advance the Air Force's efforts to adopt modern software development and acquisition methodologies.
ResponsibilitiesProvide support to Sentinel Software Branch Lead Engineers and Integrators.
Support government oversight of all phases of effective systems engineering for the software elements of the Sentinel program.
Assist government software lead engineers with acquisition activities, integration, strategic planning, and communications.
Act as a Software Subject Matter Expert to review and define software system requirements, specification documents, processes, plans, guides, and reports.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, agencies, and stakeholders in the development and evaluation of software systems engineering requirements.
Track and evaluate program progress by analyzing software metrics and earned value data.
Apply and promote Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and digital engineering approaches for software acquisition and development.
Support the adoption of modern software development methodologies, including Agile and DevSecOps, within the Sentinel program office.
This position requires U.S. Citizenship due to the nature of the government contract.
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, & SkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
10 years of related experience (8 years with a Master's degree) in industry or government roles.
Active Secret security clearance with a reinvestigation date within the last 6 years.
Familiarity with systems engineering practices, standards, and procedures.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to both peers and senior leadership.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with variable workloads and shifting priorities.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to execute tasks with limited day-to-day direction.
MBSE and requirements/architecture tools such as Cameo, DOORS, or Rhapsody
Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages.
Experience developing and managing software requirements.
Familiarity with Agile software development metrics (e.g., burnup/burndown charts, velocity, code coverage).
Experience with one or more of the following:
Aerospace Software Standards (DO-178C, ARINC-653, ARINC-661, MISRA C, etc.)
Agile/SAFe/Lean development practices
DevSecOps pipelines, tools, and techniques in cloud-based environments
