SAIC is seeking candidates for a Space Mission Protection Analyst whose role is to maintain situational awareness across the space domain to coordinate, de-conflict and integrate mission protection actions across the national security space portfolio.  This position will develop and sustain the requisite processes, procedures, and resources to conduct mission protection as required across a range of notional security space programs.  The role will implement space mission protection standards, employ best practices and develop new procedures to support missions and the decision-making process.

 

 

Duties Include:

  • Execute mission protection aspects of the space object catalog required as part of the evolving SDA mission.

  • Review and prepare responses for applicable government policies, plans, procedures and technical documentation, as well as collaborate with other space operations centers and space acquisition offices. 

  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics.

  • Ability to interpret, draft, discuss, and implement US government-wide space policy with members from various USG agencies in a collaborative environment.

  • Understanding of space object tracking sensors, networks, and data, including capabilities and limitations.

  • Familiarity with Linux-based OS, Particularly Red Hat Linux.

  • Familiarity with Space Force's Astrodynamics Support Workstation software or similar tools.

  • Ability to apply orbital mechanics to real world problems. General understanding of methods of orbit determination and prediction, and use of orbital state data.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and be proficient in MS Office (Access, Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI w/Poly.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience of Space Domain Awareness, space mission protection or national space policy topics

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience involving orbital or space mission analysis, plan and conduct software testing to meet system requirements, and develop and present briefings on satellite capabilities and operations.

  • Communicate, both written and verbally, with mission partners to coordinate and plan future activities.

 

Desired:

  • Has work experience with technical and operational teams to develop novel solutions across multiple disciplines involving astrodynamics and sensor technology.

  • Modeling with orbit dynamic tools and libraries to include orbit propagation techniques, orbit determination and satellite maneuver analysis.


Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
