SAIC is seeking a Space & Terrestrial Network Engineer to be an integral participant in satellite ground system command and control software requirements development, design analysis, coding, and verification. This role is located in Chantilly, VA and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

In this role, you will be an integral participant in satellite ground system command and control requirements development, design analysis, production, and verification.  Key areas of focus include space and ground distributed network analysis, design, and development to ensure optimized data transport system performance.  

Job Duties include:

• Performing analysis, design, and development of space-ground data transport architecture, CONOPs, and specifications.
• Performing analysis and requirement definition for incorporating command and control/space data transport into enterprise terrestrial data transport architecture.
•  Performing space/terrestrial network architecture modeling to support optimized end-to-end solution.
• Working with delivery team to address architecture, integration, and technical issues, and in some instances lead the technical implementation of the solution architecture. 
• Working with development teams and advise on practical implementations and develop findings and work off plans.
• Supporting integration and testing to evaluate functional performance, reliability, and robustness of space/ground network.
• Developing productive relationships with development contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts.
• Advising and mentoring customer personnel regarding space/terrestrial network management.
• Representing the government at developer lead release and sprint planning events; ensuring that the government and stakeholder needs are prioritized.
• Engaging with Agile Development teams to assess implementation and execution.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• 9+ years of domain experience with a BS degree or 7+ years of domain experience with an MS degree.
• Experience deploying large-scale network solutions.
• Strong knowledge of all layers of information technology (e.g. OSI model).
• Expertise in networking concepts and technologies, laser communications, satellite mission management, and space/ground communications.
• Understanding of laser link budget analysis.
• Experience in MATLAB, Python, C++ or other tools for modeling and analyzing communication systems.
• Ability to distill complex problems into digestible structures/formats.

Desired Qualifications

• 14+ years of domain experience with a BS degree or 12+ years of domain experience with an MS degree.
• Cisco, Juniper, Arista or other industry certifications.
• Experience in satellite/ground network simulation development and analysis.
• Experience with Agile development programs.
• Working knowledge of the operations of SIGINT and associated scheduling, tasking and/or mission management functions.
• Experience working within or closely with Acquisition Offices; SETA and/or SE&I experience.
• Prior ground system experience in on a satellite program (DoD/IC/Commercial).
•      Specific IC Customer experience.
