SAIC is seeking a Spacecraft Operations Systems Engineerto ensure current and next-generation medium earth orbit (MEO) and geostationary earth orbit (GEO) satellites can conduct round-the-clock operations. In this role you will support system design reviews, on-orbit operations, health and safety and vehicle longevity enhancements. This role will involve interfacing with satellite development engineers and ground station operators to improve future vehicle design and enhance operational capabilities. You will be expected to proactively evaluate system performance, degradation and hardware failures in preparation for contingency operations.
Position is located in Chantilly, VA and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
Additional job duties include:
- Providing real time support for on-orbit systems operations including telemetry monitoring and data analysis to include sub-system performance, anomaly troubleshooting, impact assessments on system performance and development of contingency plans to recover capability.

Supporting system engineer reviews operations procedures and provides technical analysis for process improvements and detailed technical insight on system operation, protective modes, anomaly resolution, and contingency operations.
- Ensuring effective operations of the spacecraft and timely resolution of anomalous situations.
- Performing and monitoring health and safety of on-orbit spacecraft and associated payloads.
- Supporting maintenance and engineering activities for the spacecraft constellation, including system configurations, operational performance, and anomaly resolution.
- Providing briefings, and feedback to management on all aspects of the program status.
- Technical point of contact on all aspects of on-orbit spacecraft operations, maintenance and calibration activities.
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Bachelors and 9 years or more experience; Masters and 7 years or more experience ; PhD or JD and 4 years or more experience.
- Experience in NRO, IC, or DoD satellite programs and program management processes.
- Ability to work with large groups to support root cause analysis.
- Ability to perform trend analysis and summarize findings for the customer.
Desired qualifications:
- Experience supporting management of USG contract execution.
- Acquisition or contract experience executing spacecraft enhancements.
