SAIC's National Intelligence Community (NIC) Business Unit, USG Mission, and Information Technology Division, provides solutions and services supporting digital modernization programs in areas such as systems engineering, multi-cloud computing, cybersecurity, data science and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, quantum computing, application development, DevSecOps, cloud network operations, and secure communications. 

We are seeking multiple Systems Engineers to join our National Intelligence Program that provides analytic and software capabilities to include data visualization tools, language translation, data ingestions, extraction, and modeling. 

These positions can be in Herndon, VA, McLean, VA or Chantilly, VA and require an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.  

The ideal candidates will develop and maintain our hybrid infrastructure that bridges on-premise and cloud-based environments. These roles involve supporting advanced analytic and software capabilities including data visualization tools, language translation, data ingestion, extraction, and modeling. The ideal candidate will be adept in handling both Linux and Windows environments across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and on-premise data centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a secure and scalable systems architecture that seamlessly integrates on-premise resources with cloud services provided by AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Administer and manage Linux and Windows server environments both on-premise and in the cloud, ensuring system performance, availability, and security.
  • Facilitate smooth data operations by overseeing the ETL process, and managing data workflows across hybrid environments.
  • Optimize resource utilization by monitoring performance metrics and tuning systems in both on-premise and cloud setups.
  • Collaborate with IT security teams to craft and enforce policies that protect data integrity and privacy across all platforms.
  • Coordinate with development teams to deploy and maintain data visualization tools and software applications in hybrid environments.
  • Implement and manage containerization and orchestration solutions, such as Docker and Kubernetes, across both on-premise and cloud platforms.
  • Establish disaster recovery and business continuity protocols for hybrid systems, ensuring minimal downtime and loss.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and management of applications and services through CI/CD pipelines within a hybrid ecosystem.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues spanning across on-premise and cloud environments, providing timely and effective resolutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system architectures, configurations, processes, and service records.
  • Stay abreast of the latest innovations in system engineering, particularly those related to hybrid cloud technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, with a solid foundation in systems engineering.
  • Proven experience with hybrid environments, encompassing both on-premise and cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
  • Strong expertise in managing Linux and Windows operating systems across distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies and the management of virtualized resources.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools for both cloud and on-premise environment management, such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • Knowledge of network architecture, data security, and compliance requirements in a hybrid setting.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or any similar qualifications in the cloud or systems engineering domain.

Desired Skills:

  • Practical experience with big data technologies, NLP, and data visualization tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, complemented by excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to staying current with technological advancements, with an appetite for continuous learning and professional development.
