SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to support the USSOCOM SITEC 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) contract.  Your career at SAIC enables USSOCOM to fulfill its mission to “Provide fully capable Special Operations Forces (SOF) to defend the United States and its interests and synchronize planning for global operations against terrorist networks.” As a member of our team, you will partner with SOF military and civilian members to provide world-class IT services and support that connects over 60,000 users around the world in the areas of software development/maintenance, network services, security, end-user computing, and test and evaluation. This position is based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The Technical Writer gathers information, analyzes data, and composes technical documentation, policy, and other artifacts in the Military Writing Style in accordance with Army Regulations.  Additionally, the Technical Writer:

  • Gathers information, interviews subject matter experts, and conducts other research to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.

  • Composes technical documentation including, Knowledge Articles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user's manuals, governance and control gates documentation, training materials, installation guides, and reports.

  • Edits functional descriptions, system specifications, user's manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documentation.

  • Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology.

  • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, conciseness, style, and terminology.

  • Manages the schedule, assignments, and meetings associated with all narratives and submissions.

  • Establishes the overall organizational layout and editorial standards of the submissions.

  • Works with the Government to develop a consistent, uniform style and language.

  • Develops content for technical publications and writes or edits hardcopy and online documents. Ensures content is readable, accurate, and compliant with stated requirements.

  • Interviews and builds relationships with technical SMEs and converts technical content to internal standards without changing the meaning.

  • Manages updates and revisions to reports, presentations, and technical documents.

  • Supports quality control activities required to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of each publication.

  • Ensures documentation complies with all applicable specifications, standards, and other project constraints.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related experience; OR Master's degree and 1+ years of related experience; OR 7+ years of related experience in lieu of degree.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft operating platforms and office applications.

  • Must be comfortable researching various enterprise IT related technologies.

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to brief senior military and government leaders. 

Clearance:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Top Secret Clearance to start; must be able to obtain a TS/SCI.
