SAIC has an immediate need for Terminal Instrument Procedure Specialist (TERPS) to support Army Instrument Approach Procedures Branch.

NOTE:  this is a 100% remote opportunity

Duties:   

  • Develop and evaluate Army Instrument Approach Procedures IAW Army, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.   
  • Assess existing host nation instrument approach procedures and review for compliance with U.S. TERPS criteria.   
  • Revise, review or amend instrument flight procedures, including application of facility performance limitations, the nature and extent of interference from physical obstructions, controlled airspace, and communications with respect to applicable FAA, NGA and applicable host nation regulations, standards and criteria.  
  • Evaluate the effect of proposed obstructions, altered or deactivated airports, NAVAID outages and revisions to controlled airspace as they affect instrument flight procedures. Take action to amend affected procedures, as required.  
  • Use Microsoft Office Tool Suites or specific DOD, NGA and FAA propriety such as Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), Global Procedure Designer (GPD), Aeronautical Source Packaging Service (ASPS) Digital Terrain Elevation Model (DTED), Digital Vertical Obstacle File (DVOF) etc. for evaluating and tracking various programs.  
  • Initiate, maintain or cancel Notices to Airmen (NOTAM) for US Army Instrument Procedures, as needed.  
  • Evaluate and determine the need for waivers of standards for instrument flight procedures.  
  • Manage and coordinate aeronautical data changes in support of Army Instrument Procedures construction.     

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:       

  • BS degree and five (5) years or more experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree.  

Required Skills:  

  • Military or Civilian Accredited TERPS course with proof or verification of completion.  
  • Direct recent experience in TERPS development work.  
  • Working knowledge of the DOD TERPS, ICAO/NATO and FAA criteria, policies and procedures.  
  • Working knowledge of applicable DOD, FAA, ICAO, and NGA directives, instructions and regulations, and forms.   
  • Must be fluent in the English language.
  • Must accomplish clear and concise general and technical writing, prepare and conduct effective technical presentations, provide project monitoring and reporting, and tactfully coordinate with project stake holders.  
  • Must be CONUS, including AK and HI
  • Individual work hours are focused on eastern standard time availability
  • Must have strong internet and phone signal
  • If still in the military, must be on terminal leave to start
  • Start date is the week of 26 May 2025

Required Clearance:

  • Must have an active Interim Secret Security Clearance.
