This position is in Washington, DC at the Department of Transportation (DOT) Headquarters' building and is assigned to provide the below described services in support of the VTC team.  The candidate will be assigned to the VTC team and serve as a VOIP Engineer Senior focusing on supporting customer requests and on the requests for VTC related tasks.

Core responsibilities and duties; highlight day-to-day activities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain VoIP and VTC systems to ensure seamless communication across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess needs, and develop solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VoIP and VTC hardware and software components, ensuring optimal performance and call quality.
  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Integrate VoIP and VTC systems with existing network infrastructure and communication tools.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard VoIP and VTC systems against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users, addressing inquiries and resolving technical issues promptly.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in VoIP and VTC technologies, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Create and maintain knowledgebase articles for use in troubleshooting and resolving common issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and system maintenance.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of related experience managing Voice networks, possessing advanced skills and knowledge in VOIP. 
  • Must have experience managing and integrating Voice services with WebEx and other VTC technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cisco call manager and Cisco Unity VM
  • Program and troubleshoot VOIP phone issues
  • Administer licensing and users on-call Manager
  • Help manage physical connections coming in from ISP for demarc/fiber/POTS/Fax lines
  • Perform network cable pulls and install network drops
  • Work with the network team in resolving network, wireless, and VoIP issues
  • Resolve trouble tickets with the Help-Desk team with end-to-end resolution
  • Maintain and support tributary equipment belonging to USMMA
  • Basic physical layer troubleshooting for Network Switches and fiber connections
  • Support Wireless access points and WAP installations

Top Qualifications, Skills, Experience, or Certifications: 

  • Strong understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP) and VTC technologies.
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting VoIP and VTC hardware and software components.
  • Experience working with and configuring Polycom Endpoints.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaboration and teamwork.
  • Experience in planning, deploying, and managing VTC systems in enterprise environments.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to call quality, connectivity, and overall system health.
  • Integrating VTC systems with other networking and communication technologies.
  • Cisco CCNA Collaboration or equivalent is a plus.
  • CompTIA Network+ or relevant networking certifications.
  • Relevant vendor-specific VoIP or VTC certifications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Surface Hubs and/or Cisco Video boards is a plus

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
