Description

UX/UI Product Designer About the Role

We are looking for a Design Lead who operates at the intersection of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. This role is built for a designer who can move fast, think broadly, and ship great work — someone who understands the big picture but lives in the details of delivery.

This is not a traditional design role. You will spend roughly half your time in high-velocity design execution, a quarter of your time supporting and contributing to UX strategy, and a quarter of your time exploring, prototyping, and experimenting — with a strong emphasis on leveraging AI tools to unlock new ways of working.

You'll work within an established strategic vision rather than defining it from scratch, but your executional instincts and creative problem-solving will directly shape how that vision comes to life — first and foremost on the SalonCentric mobile app, and across SalonCentric.com.

What You'll Be Doing

Design Execution (50%)

  • Deliver high-quality, developer-ready UI/UX designs for mobile (iOS and Android) and web with speed and consistency — output volume and quality both matter here
  • Prioritize the SalonCentric mobile app as the primary design product, ensuring the experience is polished, intuitive, and platform-appropriate before adapting to web
  • Translate the mobile app experience to web (and vice versa), maintaining platform-appropriate design patterns aligned with Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design
  • Produce high-fidelity mockups, user flows, and detailed interaction specs with clear annotations and edge case documentation
  • Work fluently within and actively contribute to the Design System — variables, tokens, component libraries, and complex variants
  • Actively incorporate AI-powered design tools into your daily workflow to accelerate delivery, explore visual directions, and animate micro-interactions
  • Maintain brand consistency, usability standards, and basic accessibility practices across all touchpoints
  • Prepare meticulous developer handoff files that reduce friction between design and engineering

UX Strategy (25%)

  • Contribute to the overall UX vision by connecting business goals and user data to design decisions across workstreams
  • Maintain product-wide consistency by applying and reinforcing design standards across the full digital ecosystem
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration with product, development, analytics, and business stakeholders — clearly articulating and defending design decisions
  • Embrace a learn-by-doing approach to validating concepts — shipping quickly, observing real-world behavior, and iterating based on what you see; support A/B testing efforts using tools like Optimizely or Google Analytics to inform ongoing design direction. We emphasize progress over perfection.

Innovation, Prototyping & Experimentation (25%)

  • Lead rapid prototyping efforts to validate concepts quickly — favoring speed and learning over polish at this stage
  • Contribute to building AI-powered design agents targeting use cases such as:
  • Automated usability testing and feedback synthesis
  • AI-assisted prototyping
  • Cross-platform design translation (mobile to web)
  • Design review and annotation assistance
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, AI design tooling, and UX trends — and actively bring new approaches back to the team
What You Bring

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in UX/UI or Product Design, focused UI/UX experience across mobile and web platforms, with a strong emphasis on native mobile (iOS and Android)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high volumes of quality design output in fast-changing environments

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level Figma proficiency, including variables, design tokens, auto-layout, component architecture, and advanced prototyping
  • Hands-on experience with AI design tools and a genuine curiosity for how AI can accelerate and augment design workflows
  • Deep understanding of native mobile design patterns (Human Interface Guidelines, Material Design) and responsive web design
  • Experience contributing to and maintaining a living Design System

Mindset & Soft Skills

  • Progress over perfection — you know when to ship and when to refine
  • A learn-by-doing orientation — you'd rather put something in front of users and iterate than wait for certainty
  • Strong ability to adapt quickly when business priorities shift
  • Clear, confident communicator who can translate complex UX thinking to non-design stakeholders
  • Collaborative and coachable — thrives in a feedback-rich environment
  • Comfort operating within an established strategic vision while bringing your own creative problem-solving to execution
  • Willing to operate independently (sometimes as the sole owner) and hold yourself and others accountable to high quality deliverables.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in e-commerce, B2B, or B2C digital shopping environments
  • Familiarity with Figma Sites
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Optimizely, Apptimize, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud
  • Experience in the beauty or professional salon industry
