Each of us at Savage is committed to integrity and delivering reliable, sustainable services in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.   These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage:  A culture that appreciates our Team Members Paid Time Off (“PTO”) Paid holidays Profit Sharing Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) A culture of safety A commitment to helping our Team Members do things that they never dreamed possible What you need to be successful in this role:  Locomotive Operator is responsible for the daily railcar movement and unloading of material within the facility safely and timely Communicate with other train crew members, the railroad employees by radio, signals or by other means to give and receive train operations information and aid in the movement and operation of trains   Prepare necessary paperwork associated with the movement of the railcars   Understand and adhere to rail rules and regulations as prescribed by Savage, our customer, and the Railroad A willingness to complete any assigned task(s) as long as they have been properly trained Will have daily contact with fellow team members and their immediate supervisor and/or manager Will have daily contact with customers, Class 1 railroad personnel, and members of the regional and/or executive management team   Key strengths of the successful locomotive operator: Committed to show up on time on every scheduled work day  Understands the importance of good communication with the customer and other Savage employees  Experienced locomotive engineer---have been previously FRA certified and GCOR rules certified  Understands the importance of customer service and able to professionally deliver service to the customer  Strong communication and listening skills including the ability to read, write and understand Education/Experience:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent  1 year or more of engineer experience, preferably “Road Power”, knowledge of distributed power and Multiple Units operations as well as “slow speed”. Physical Requirements:  Must be able to work 7 days on 7 days off Night shift position available Willing to receive switchmen, Locomotive and Distributive power training & general safety training Willing to work with dry bulk materials  Must be able to climb on and off railcars and locomotives   Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts   Must be able to pass the plant's site requirement test
