Pay Range $24.00 to $26.00 per hour

The Transload Locomotive Operator's primary responsibility is to safely unload and switch railcars in a timely manner. 

  • The position of Transload Locomotive Operator is responsible for the daily unloading of materials consisting of a variety of bulk liquids
  • Ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies, to operate or learn to operate railcar loading systems and equipment, to operate or learn to operate Class 1 locomotives, to perform or learn to perform switch operations, to perform work safely and productively
  • Interest in being cross-trained on all functions at the facility
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and assist with handyman duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep & painting)
  • Interact with plant people, railroad crews, and visitors

Requirements to be successful in this position:

  • For safety reasons, you must be able to read, write, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC card
  • High Scholl Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Computer skills (light data entry), Basic math Skills
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Capable of learning how to operate and maintain Class 1 Power Units (no CDL required), Railcar/trans loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium-sized equipment, etc.)

Here are some of the physical Requirements for this role:

  • Physically able to climb up and down railcars, ladders, and stairs safely; comfortable working at heights
  • Willing to receive general safety training
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Willing to work with liquid non-hazardous bulk materials
  • Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds, in good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)
