What you'll be doing:

  • Review and develop acknowledgments for agreement with selected suppliers, establishing best business practices.
  • Define strategic plans for an assigned commodity, including spending and savings targets.
  • Check requisitions for completeness and clarity. Determine and obtain any missing information as required.
  • Procure and initiate orders to support commodity spend categories as assigned.
  • Check all purchase orders issued for accuracy and completeness.
  • Gather data and analyze bids to assess competitiveness and best total cost.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on total cost, quality, and “real-time” delivery of their products and services.
  • Evaluate and visit suppliers' operations and/or distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices.
  • Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences as applicable to gain knowledge about industry trends and establish contacts with potential suppliers.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to assess the competitiveness of products and services offered.
  • Negotiate contracts on behalf of the organization.
  • Determine acceptable terms and conditions for commercial business agreements.
  • Support Team Members to define corrective actions on potentially defective or unacceptable products or services.
  • Evaluate and monitor contracts to ensure vendors and suppliers comply with established T&C's.
  • Report on current and future opportunities for items purchased, costs, deliveries, and product performance.
  • Lead internal discussions and meetings with Team Members across various disciplines and locations to support procurement needs.
  • Present commodity-related material and information, including strategies and recommendations to Savage Leadership for alignment and approval.
  • Schedule and visit multiple Savage operations in various geographic locations to align procurement needs and processes with procurement policy and Team Members.

Requirements to be successful in this position:

  • Professional in appearance and demeanor always.
  • Experience in/with procurement and dealing with various personalities and disciplines.
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated, and proactive.
  • Familiarity with Procure-to-Pay (P2P) platforms such as Coupa is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience using similar procurement systems or a demonstrated ability to learn new tools quickly will be considered favorably.
  • Experience in Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) procurement is highly valued. Ideal candidates will have hands-on involvement in sourcing and managing MRO categories, including industrial supplies, safety equipment, tools, and facility maintenance services. Strong knowledge of supplier negotiations and cost control strategies within an MRO environment is a plus.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Master's Degree or Equivalent Experience.
  • 4+ years of experience.
