This position will lead and coordinate Schreiber US Automation, Systems, and Controls Engineering strategy with the responsibility to maintain and improve manufacturing automation and systems development primarily for US Operations, however global support may be necessary.  Responsibility for developing and improving data collection, increasing automation and adoption of applicable new technologies and systems, and developing key performance indicators that will support improved operational efficiency, control, and performance of assets and partners.  Collaboration with Operations, Enterprise Quality, Finance, Transportation, Supply Chain, Planning, and Distribution is expected.  

This role is 100% on-site (Monday-Friday) located at our Home Office in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

What you'll do:

  • Build, lead, coach, mentor, and develop a high performing automation, systems, and controls engineering teams reinforcing process and analytical strategies for data driven decision making principles while instilling a culture of accountability, results, continuous improvement, and people first.
  • Support and maintain effective systems and automation that lead to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness and capability within the network.
  • Share and develop strategy that provide standards and operational effectiveness within product categories, across the entire manufacturing fleet, assets and infrastructure that promotes a “World Class” manufacturing environment.
  • Develop automation strategies to optimize and provide recommendations for the organization that drive cost-effective decisions and recommendations for improved capability, profitability, and results.
  • Identify opportunities and deliver measurable improvement to Schreiber profit.  Act as a center of excellence for cross-functional or other teams as they operate company assets and improve operation efficiency and capability.
  • Establish measurement criteria and process for providing specific feedback and improvement opportunities to leaders on an ongoing basis company wide.
  • Ensure the development, capture, visualization and review of category-wide operations KPI's.  Leverage data to perform analysis and maximize asset utilization.
  • All partners are required to comply with company-wide food safety and quality standards as well as procedures specific to their job function, and to model food safety culture through words and actions. Where possible partners should resolve food safety issues within their scope of work, and report potential food safety and quality issues to leadership.
  • May be required to perform other job-related tasks.  

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Masters/MBA in Engineering or related technical field is preferred.
  • Over 12 years of experience in leadership in a manufacturing environment.
  • Over 4 years of leading engineering teams.
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Controls, Automation, and Systems Design - Understanding of industrial controls and components.  Understanding of functional design documents.  Database skills in tables, views, stored procedures, SQL queries, and reporting.  Ability to analyze large amounts of data to create useful and actionable information. Understanding of automation and robotics as it applies to manufacturing and operational success. SCADA, HMI, MES, Historian, Reporting/Dashboard, and Programming skills and/or strong understanding is required.  Experience with the Ignition SCADA Platform and the Perspective User Interface module is preferred.
  • Strategic Planning - Developing long term goals that are aligned with company growth and impact plans that support a World Class Food Manufacturing team.                        
    Controls, Automation, and Systems Design - Understanding of industrial controls and components.  Understanding of functional design documents.  Database skills in tables, views, stored procedures, SQL queries, and reporting.  Ability to analyze large amounts of data to create useful and actionable information. Understading of automation and robotics as it applies to manufacturing and operational success. SCADA, HMI, MES, Historian, Reporting/Dashboard, and Programming skills and/or strong understanding is required.  Experience with the Ignition SCADA Platform and the Perspective User Interface module is preferred.

  • Project Management - Demonstrated ability to meet project timelines, within scope and budget requirements.                        
  • Financial Acumen - Effectively manages project resources to optimize return on investment, evaluate of financial impact of technical decisions and contributes to forecasting and planning to ensure projects meet both performance and financial objectives.                        
  • Technology Evaluation - Demonstrated ability to research, assess and make recommendations for emerging trends in industry.  Identify opportunities for innovation and recommend solutions that align with organizational goals and industry standards. Proficient in MS Office.    
  • Ability to travel 20-40% primarily within the U.S.
