As an Environmental, Health and Safety Director you will be a coach, consultant, and trainer to Schreiber US facilities in the areas of Safety, Regulatory compliance for OSHA (which includes at least 64 different programs, electrical and machine standards, etc.) and EPA (which includes at least 18 different environmental programs (clean air, clean water, hazardous waste, etc.) and direct the continuous improvement efforts in these areas. This would also include being a resource (as needed) in the required training of Schreiber partners in these areas, identifying systems and software needed to maintain and track compliance, and development of processes, tools/forms to aid in compliance and performance.

This position is located at our Home Office in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

What you'll do

  • Be a coach, consultant, and trainer to Schreiber US facilities in the areas of Safety, Regulatory compliance for OSHA (which includes at least 64 different programs, electrical and machine standards, etc.) and EPA (which includes at least 18 different environmental programs (clean air, clean water, hazardous waste, etc.) and direct the continuous improvement efforts in these areas. This would also include being a resource (as needed) in the required training of Schreiber partners in these areas, identifying systems and software needed to maintain and track compliance, and development of processes, tools/forms to aid in compliance and performance.
  • PSM, RMP; oversee/conduct process hazard analyses for SFI facilities when required. Perform mechanical integrity inspections of ammonia processes as required.
  • Stay current on regulations of OSHA and EPA to keep Schreiber Facilities leadership informed of changes. Read daily regulatory updates to accomplish this.
  • Direct plant audits of each US facility at prescribed intervals.  Help leaders/partners at each facility recognize and address areas that are unsafe and/or do not meet regulatory requirements.  Assist in preparation for external audits and inspections.  Attend inspections if required.  Audit other SFI leased facilities as necessary and lead the safety/environmental due diligence of perspective acquisition targets.
  • Lead the administration, development, and maintenance of our Human Element Programs and CapEx strategy required by our insurance provider.
  • Direct the 24-hr and 8-hr HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) at each facility requiring HAZWOPER training. Develop and maintain energy systems technician skills including but not limited to teaching (classroom and hands-on training) to Refrigeration Technicians throughout the company. (required every 3 years by law, sometimes done by outside consultants).
  • Be a resource to facilities leadership in identifying and correcting unsafe conditions, meet regulatory requirements, and follow through to make sure actions are executed in a timely manner.  This position is responsible for US facilities and activities and will serve as a resource for non-US facilities and activities while coordinating communication, internal consulting/coaching, and best practice sharing across the world.
  • Lead the review and prioritization of company CapEx projects submitted by each facility that are related to safety, environmental, and regulatory. Work with the plants to accomplish the projects that are approved each year.

What you need to succeed:

  • 10 years of EHS experience
  • Ability to travel within the U.S. and occasionally outside the U.S. around 50% each year.
