Machine Operator (Claxton)

Carthage, Missouri Plant on Claxton Ave

Earn up to $28.77 per hour in 24 months​

Evening Shifts: (C shift) Monday- Friday 3pm- 11pm

Night Shifts: (A shift) Sunday- Thursday 11pm- 7am

Positions to Fill: Casting Cook Operator- (C shift) Monday- Friday evenings, 3pm- 11pm Casting Cook Operator- (A shift) Sunday- Thursday nights, 11pm- 7am

Pay Scale:

Casting Cook Operator:

  • Starting wage: $23.58 per hour
  • 24 month top out: $27.77 per hour
  • Evening & Night shift differential: additional $1.00 per hour

This job requires a 2 year bid commitment.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Machine Operator, you'll set up and operate a machine that's running cheese for some of the biggest restaurants and retailers in the world. (If you've enjoyed a burger with cheese at your favorite restaurant, there's a good chance you've enjoyed some of our delicious dairy.) Part of your role includes monitoring the equipment and performing many different quality checks to make sure we're meeting customer requirements.

Casting Cook Job Description:
  • Work with Leaders and fellow partners to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety. Understand and execute standard operating procedures relative to position. Perform all PCP and CCP checks required for position. Follow reaction plan for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement outages and by contacting TA/TL. Be able to identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper operation and product. Record accurate data on production reports.  Must be able to perform mathematical calculations
  • Weigh-up cheese accurately according to written and oral instructions. 
  • Dump cheese accurately. 
  • Monitor blend/cook/ingredient schedules and also product being cooked to ensure quality standards are met. 
  • Read and comprehend non-technical written instructions.  Comprehend oral instructions. 
  • Maintains attention to safe and proper operation of grinder, cooker, blender, scales and barrel hoist. 
  • Notifies Maintenance of needed repairs. 
  • Maintains work area in an approved housekeeping/sanitary condition including floor sanitation. 
  • Monitors weigh-up, ensures correct cheese and proper weight are used. 
  • Closely monitors for product quality defects to prevent improper usage and on-line problems. 
  • Perform daily cheese and ingredient inventories to meet the customer requirements of records and reduces solids loss. 
  • Other duties as assigned by TL/TA. 
  • Participate on the teams as requested (SPS, PSCs, Kaizens). 
  • Ability to read and comprehend cook-blend sheets and blend-ingredient schedule. 
  • Ability to set-up and operate blender.  
  • Make simple repairs/adjustments when necessary or grind and cook products to SFI specifications.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.  Ability to communicate with wrapper operators and belt operators.
  • Ability to perform moderate amount of record-keeping paperwork.
  • Ability to identify needed blends from the SCADA computer station, make modifications to the blends and work with the lab partners to make the necessary water and acid adjustments.
  • Must be able to work overtime daily and/or weekend as required. 
  • Actively display a positive attitude and action towards achieving department goals and self-directed work teams. Must have good interaction skills. 
  • Maintain Production speeds and quality standards as directed by department goals. 
  • Must help out where needed. 
  • Participate on other teams as requested (SPS, PSCs, Kaizens). 
 

Physical Demands Analysis:   

Work Day (hrs) – 8 hours (+ 4 hours if necessary)  Sit – 5 minutes  Stand – 2-3 hours (approximately 5 minutes at a time)  Walk – 5-6 hours (10-20 ft. average)  Continuous Activities: Bend/Stoop, Twist, Crouch, Balance  Frequent Activities: Squat, Climb Stairs 

Lifting Requirements:  

Above shoulders – 14- 55lbs dump buckets and lift bags  Desk to Chair – 14-55lbs scoop ingredients, cheese, blocks, bags  Chair to floor – 10-70lbs (O) pallets (F) ingredient bags  Push/Pull – 21-80lbs(O) trash dumpster (F) cheese tubs  Carry – 10-70lbs (O) ingredient bucket, (O) pallets, (F) bags, (C) cheese 

Interacting Relationship - Who you support and who supports you:

  • Interacts with team advisors, operators and other production partners. Requires good communication and writing skills, must work well with others along with being a team player.

Expectations / Standards / Training Requirements:

  • Complete tasks as assigned by leaders and others according to expectations.  Must possess basic math, counting, calculator and basic computer skills. Forklift driving skills may be necessary. Training can generally be completed in a 6-week period or less.
  • Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position. Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations.  Be able to identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper production operation. 

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have the ability to read, understand and follow written procedures.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehension of the English language is required.
  • At least two years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • This job may require you to operate an electronic pallet jack or forklift and work in cold or hot conditions.
  • This position requires passing a post-offer background check, physical and drug screen. Due to the lifting requirements, you must score a level 4 or higher on the Physical Exam.
