As a Process Excellence Manager at Schreiber Foods, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our production processes, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of our food products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production Operations, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, Controls/Capital Engineering, Operations Excellence, and Supply Chain, to drive continuous improvement, maintain product quality, and enhance overall production performance. Your role will encompass process optimization, improve process capability, process step-to-step enhancement, risk reduction, process & food safety, and close collaboration with various teams. 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with plant and functional leadership to ensure compliance with food safety, food quality, and customer requirements.
  • Interpret and communicate customer requirements, establish and audit production control plans, critical control points, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, productivity, process capability, risk and cost reduction, and improving overall operational performance using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Play active role developing and driving engineering strategies around processing line capability, capacity and optimization that align with organizational priorities.
  • Design and implement improvements to enhance yield, reduce waste, increase throughputs, improve cycle times, reduce bottlenecks, and streamline operations while maintaining strict adherence to food.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of process excellence training programs to build organizational capability and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate the adoption of new technologies and automation tools that support process improvement and operational excellence initiatives relevant to the food industry.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews for completed projects to assess outcomes, quantify benefits realized, and identify lessons learned for future process improvement efforts
  • Lead or assist in the development of new equipment installations or modifications, from concept to commissioning, with a focus on maximizing output, minimizing downtime, and reducing operational risk.
  • Perform process capability studies to predict manufacturing process trends to meet customer specifications and create stability in day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers on capital project development; scoping, budget estimates, schedule development, construction plans, downtime planning/risk mitigation, review scope and equipment qualification success criteria is met.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including process manuals, plant P&IDs, define CCP's, standard operating procedures, and equipment specifications, with an emphasis on standardizing the process and sharing best practices.
  • Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures. 

Key Ingredients:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or operations environments.
  • Formal Lean Six Sigma training; minimum Green Belt certification with Black Belt training in progress or completed.
  • Spanish and English fluency required
  • Demonstrated technical competency in Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, DMADV, SPS, and project management methodologies.
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing-related improvement projects with measurable operational and financial results.
  • Proven experience measuring success of production start-ups and/or capital investments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of process safety, safe design, and food safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with standard productivity and analytical tools, including data analysis and statistical software.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence leaders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 10% to support deployment and sustainment activities.
